Mina Davogic's take on IWD at Robert Walters

We spoke to Mina Davogic, Senior Manager at Robert Walters Perth, about what International Women's Day means to her and how this is embraced at Robert Walters.  Here's what she had to say:

1. Please can you share with us a little about you and background at Robert Walters?

After studying international relations and marketing, I then went on to gain some experience working in those sectors. Shortly after, I realised I didn't have a passion and drive for it. I wanted a career where I could have more opportunities for growth and success, and that is exactly what I found when I got into recruitment.

What attracted me was the people and that it is an environment that promotes on merit - what you put in, is what you get out. You are rewarded for your hard work with quarterly “high achiever” lunches, team celebrations, and global incentive trips. Last year I qualified for the Mexico global incentive trip which is just a glimpse of the rewards you get when working at Robert Walters. It is a company that supports your career development every step of the way. I started at Robert Walters nearly seven years ago and have been promoted from consultant to senior consultant, then managing consultant, manager and now senior manager.

2. What do you enjoy most about your role at Robert Walters?

The opportunities - you get to interact with so many different clients and candidates on a daily basis. Working in a rewarding yet challenging environment where no day is the same and you are constantly learning and evolving.

3. How do you believe we can #breakthebias in the workplace?

By supporting each other, having open discussions and being open to doing new things - broadening your way of thinking.

4. Do you have any advice to give other women?

Be focused, determined and don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Asking for help doesn't show weakness, it shows that you are open to growing and learning. We all need support from the people around us and that is how we grow. Then when it's your turn to step up and give support, you can help others achieve their goals too.
