Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Risk Management Specialist to join a highly respected organisation in Perth, where your expertise will play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the risk culture across all levels of the business.

This position offers you the chance to work closely with senior leaders and stakeholders, supporting the ongoing development and implementation of a robust Risk Management Framework. You will be instrumental in ensuring that regulatory, legislative, and compliance obligations are not only met but exceeded, while also nurturing a collaborative and supportive environment. The organisation is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace that values reliability, respect, and sustainability, providing you with flexible working opportunities and access to professional growth through training initiatives. If you are passionate about making a meaningful impact on organisational resilience and enjoy working in a team-oriented setting, this role presents an outstanding platform for your career.

* Play a key role in driving a proactive risk management culture by partnering with all divisions to ensure best practice standards are embedded throughout the organisation.
* Benefit from flexible working opportunities and ongoing training initiatives designed to support your professional development within a supportive and inclusive environment.
* Work alongside knowledgeable colleagues who value collaboration, dependability, and open communication as part of their core values.

What you'll do:

As a Lead Risk Management Specialist based in Perth, you will be at the forefront of embedding effective risk practices throughout the organisation. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with various departments to facilitate comprehensive risk workshops, manage critical documentation for executive committees, and oversee business continuity planning processes. You will play an essential role in administering fraud analytics platforms, coordinating crisis simulations, and ensuring that compliance obligations are consistently met. By supporting internal audits and policy reviews while providing guidance on legislative changes, you will help maintain high standards of governance. Your ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the business will be vital as you contribute to strategic objectives through expert risk assurance support. Success in this role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent organisational skills, and a genuine commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

* Assist the Manager – Group Risk, Quality & Assurance in developing, managing, and enhancing the Enterprise Risk Management Framework across all business units.
* Facilitate risk workshops—both annual and ad hoc—including documenting risks, controls, actions, and producing final risk profiles for executive review.
* Manage the compilation of Executive Risk Committee papers in a timely manner to ensure informed decision-making at the highest level.
* Present outputs from divisional risk workshops to the Executive Risk Committee, ensuring clarity and actionable insights for leadership teams.
* Conduct Business Impact Assessments and collaborate with relevant departments to maintain up-to-date business continuity plans (BCPs), including designing and implementing testing programmes.
* Administer the fraud analytics platform for the group, providing oversight and support to mitigate potential losses.
* Coordinate crisis simulation exercises and update Crisis Management Plans as required to strengthen organisational preparedness.
* Support compliance by actively reviewing legislative updates, maintaining the compliance obligations register within the enterprise risk system, and assisting business units with implementation.
* Review internal audit findings for accuracy regarding risks, controls, and action plans; ensure assurance maps remain current and policies are updated promptly in consultation with stakeholders.
* Provide assistance to internal auditors and leaders in addressing audit findings efficiently while supporting investigations or ad hoc tasks as directed by management.

What you bring:

In this Lead Risk Management Specialist position, your background should reflect significant experience managing enterprise-level risk frameworks within regulated environments. You will bring deep familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 31000:2018 along with demonstrated success navigating compliance landscapes. Your strengths lie in building trust-based relationships across multiple stakeholder groups while delivering clear communications tailored for executive audiences. A track record of supporting internal audits—combined with your ability to interpret complex legislation—will set you apart. Proficiency in utilising technology platforms like MS Office (and ideally Power BI) is essential for efficient reporting and analysis. Your approach should be grounded in empathy, collaboration, and responsiveness—qualities that foster positive outcomes even when managing sensitive issues or facilitating crisis simulations. Adaptability is key as you may be called upon to undertake additional duties or travel occasionally.

* Hold tertiary degree qualifications in Business or a related discipline with substantial experience—ideally 5–10 years—in risk management roles.
* Demonstrate practical knowledge of ISO 31000:2018 standards along with hands-on experience implementing risk management frameworks within complex organisations.
* Showcase proven expertise in compliance management and audit processes including both internal and external audit participation.
* Possess strong abilities in interpreting legislation coupled with an understanding of compliance frameworks relevant to large-scale enterprises.
* Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to build dependable relationships at all organisational levels while promoting co-operation among diverse teams.
* Display advanced organisational capabilities alongside influential communication skills necessary for preparing board papers or business cases effectively.
* Bring well-developed conceptual thinking paired with analytical problem-solving abilities that support sound judgement under pressure.
* Demonstrate financial acumen relevant to evaluating risks within commercial environments as well as proficiency using major software packages such as MS Office.
* Ideally possess experience using Power BI for data analysis or reporting purposes within risk or assurance contexts (desirable).
* Be willing to travel occasionally within Western Australia or interstate as required by operational needs.
