Senior Tax Specialist

What you’ll do
- Prepare and review complex corporate income tax calculations as well as tax effect accounting for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant standards.
- Assist in the preparation and timely lodgement of corporate income tax returns, Business Activity Statements (BAS), payroll tax returns, and income tax instalment statements, maintaining meticulous records throughout.
- Maintain up-to-date compliance with all relevant Australian tax legislation by ensuring accurate filings across direct and indirect tax obligations, proactively identifying any areas requiring attention or improvement.
- Liaise effectively with external tax advisors and auditors to support statutory and regulatory tax requirements, providing clear documentation and responding promptly to queries.
- Prepare detailed workpapers and maintain comprehensive documentation to support all tax positions taken by the business, ensuring audit readiness at all times.
- Monitor changes in Australian tax law, assess their impact on the business, and communicate findings clearly to relevant stakeholders within the finance team.
- Support transfer pricing compliance activities by reviewing intercompany transactions and preparing local file documentation as required under current regulations.
- Contribute actively to month-end close activities by assisting with balance sheet reconciliations related to tax accounts, ensuring all entries are accurate and complete.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the tax reporting processes by identifying opportunities for efficiency gains and participating in finance automation projects alongside colleagu
- What you bring:
- CA or CPA qualified or currently working towards full qualification, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development within the field of accounting or taxation.
- A minimum of three years’ experience specialising in corporate tax or financial accounting roles, ideally gained within a financial services firm or a Big 4/mid-tier accounting practice.
- Comprehensive understanding of Australian corporate tax legislation including BAS preparation, payroll tax obligations, income tax instalments, and associated compliance requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail combined with an analytical mindset that enables you to identify discrepancies quickly and propose effective solutions.
- Proven ability to prepare thorough workpapers and maintain accurate documentation that supports audit readiness across all areas of responsibility.
- Excellent communication skills with the capacity to explain complex technical matters clearly to both finance professionals and non-specialist stakeholders alike.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating effectively with external advisors such as auditors or consultants on statutory reporting matters.
- A proactive approach towards monitoring legislative changes in taxation law and assessing their potential impact on business operations.
- Experience supporting transfer pricing compliance activities including intercompany transaction reviews would be highly regarded but is not essential.
- A positive attitude towards continuous improvement initiatives including participation in finance automation projects aimed at enhancing efficiency.
