What you'll do:
As Finance Lead based in Sydney CBD, you will play an integral part in driving the financial integrity of this global market maker’s APAC operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you collaborating closely with local, regional, and global teams to deliver accurate financial information that underpins strategic decision-making. You will take ownership of complex reporting obligations across multiple legal entities while ensuring compliance with both local and international accounting standards. By leading audit processes and partnering with tax specialists, you will safeguard the organisation’s reputation for excellence in governance. Your remit extends beyond traditional finance functions: you will champion process improvements through technology-driven initiatives and contribute directly to global transformation projects. Supporting your team’s growth is central to your success; you will nurture talent through coaching and development planning. Ultimately, your efforts will help shape a resilient finance function that supports business objectives while maintaining the highest standards of control.
- Oversee all internal and external financial reporting and filings for Australian and Technology legal entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with business operations.
- Manage AASB / IFRS technical accounting considerations, including sustainability reporting requirements to maintain compliance with evolving standards.
- Lead both external audits and relevant internal audits to ensure rigorous adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Partner with the Tax team to manage tax accounting aspects such as transfer pricing, income tax, GST, and FBT for all relevant entities.
- Supervise non-trading treasury functions by ensuring robust cash and capital management, preparing dividend proposals, managing FX exposure, and optimising returns on liquid assets while upholding strict controls.
- Lead a team of three finance professionals by guiding their individual development plans and fostering a collaborative environment focused on shared success.
- Take regional responsibility for supporting the global Finance transformation agenda while leading specific global initiatives aimed at process optimisation.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in processes, controls, and workpapers; ensure enhancements are well documented and implemented effectively.
- Enhance the Control Framework across Finance to proactively identify, mitigate, and control risks associated with business operations.
- Support Group Finance with comprehensive reporting requirements as well as the preparation of accounting policies and technical papers.

- Demonstrated experience leading successful finance teams within complex organisational structures over 15+ years in senior roles.
- Proven ability to facilitate complex discussions with senior stakeholders while influencing key business decisions through insightful analysis.
- Extensive track record in finance management roles encompassing advisory responsibilities as well as practical application of technical knowledge.
- Capacity to anticipate changing priorities and manage multiple concurrent tasks efficiently within tight deadlines.
- Strong awareness of control frameworks with hands-on experience implementing improvements that enhance risk mitigation strategies.
- Exceptional analytical skills combined with meticulous attention to detail; able to apply commercial acumen when interrogating financial data.
- Experience driving process and system improvements including participation in technology change initiatives such as ERP or BI tool implementations.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality outputs supported by excellent customer service orientation across internal clients.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills enabling clear communication of complex information at all levels of the organisation.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with accounting systems (NetSuite preferred) as well as BI tools like Tableau or PowerBI is desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce or Business; CA/CPA qualified or international equivalent required.
