What you'll do as a Senior Reporting Analyst:
- Monitor and reinforce continuous compliance with internal financial control systems across all business units, ensuring robust governance and risk management practices are upheld at all times.
- Provide expert advice on funding allocations, program evaluation processes, and the financial implications of operational strategies to support informed decision-making by senior management.
- Offer technical subject matter input into the development of new finance policies or controls, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Deliver high-quality financial accounting advice that underpins the accuracy of data used for critical management decisions, supporting both internal clients and project teams.
- Prepare, review, and explain standard financial statements, variance reports, treasury documents, and other specialised reports with precision and clarity for diverse stakeholders.
- Fulfil all regulatory reporting compliance requirements for primary and supplementary financial statements and disclosures, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines.
- Develop complex management accounting reports and analyses that enable leadership teams to make strategic decisions based on comprehensive financial insights.
- Present and interpret complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences, facilitating understanding across departments and supporting organisational goals.
- Proactively build strong relationships with internal colleagues and external clients by fostering open communication channels, regular feedback sessions, and collaborative problem-solving approaches.
- Coach junior staff members by providing constructive feedback, guidance on best practices, and opportunities for professional development within the finance function.
What you bring as a Senior Reporting Analyst:
- Approximately six years’ experience in a financial reporting role within large organisations or professional services firms - ideally including time spent in external audit environments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of preparing financial statements under AASB and IFRS standards as well as practical application within the construction industry context.
- Demonstrated people management capabilities with proven success coaching junior staff members towards achieving their professional goals.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills enabling you to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels—both internally across departments and externally with auditors or regulators.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel alongside strong working knowledge of ERP systems (such as SAP or Oracle) plus other business ICT applications relevant to finance functions.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities allowing you to convey complex information clearly whether presenting reports or advising non-financial colleagues.
- Sound understanding of internal controls frameworks coupled with experience implementing process improvements that enhance compliance without sacrificing efficiency.
- Solid grasp of management accounting principles relevant to project-based industries such as construction—including budgeting techniques, variance analysis methodologies, and cost optimisation strategies.
- Recognised ability to plan ahead by prioritising tasks effectively while adapting quickly when circumstances change or new challenges arise within fast-moving environments.
- CA/CPA qualification (or equivalent) is essential; additional certifications related to risk management or sustainability would be advantageous.
