An exceptional opportunity has arisen for you to join a Project Finance team based in Sydney, where your expertise will contribute directly to Infrastructure transactions. This role offers a unique blend of professional growth, exposure to high-profile transactions, and the chance to work within a supportive and inclusive environment that values flexibility and personal wellbeing. You will be part of a team who is established as a solely project finance international institutional bank.

What you'll do:

As a Project Finance Associate based in Sydney’s CBD, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the end-to-end process of major project finance transactions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve evaluating complex financial models to determine creditworthiness for significant deals spanning infrastructure, public-private partnerships (PPPs), and natural resource developments. You will prepare detailed documentation such as credit papers and sector research reports while coordinating due diligence efforts across technical, legal, market, insurance, and financial domains. Working collaboratively with relationship managers and cross-functional teams—including syndications, risk management, portfolio oversight, financial markets specialists, legal advisors—you will help ensure each transaction is executed efficiently and meets rigorous compliance standards. Your contributions will extend beyond transactional work as you participate in business development activities and sector research initiatives that keep the team at the forefront of industry trends. Success in this role requires not only analytical rigour but also strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships internally and externally.

  • Support the origination and execution of project finance transactions by conducting detailed evaluations of credit quality for complex debt deals across infrastructure, PPPs, and natural resources.
  • Analyse intricate financial models to assess risk profiles and inform decision-making processes for large-scale projects.
  • Compile comprehensive credit papers, RFP submissions, pitches, sector research documents, and business development materials to facilitate transaction success.
  • Coordinate due diligence activities covering technical, market, legal, insurance, financial, and other relevant aspects to ensure robust deal structuring.
  • Collaborate closely with relationship managers, syndications teams, risk professionals, financial markets experts, portfolio managers, and both internal and external stakeholders to drive seamless transaction execution.
  • Maintain strict compliance with all relevant policies and procedures while ensuring accurate documentation throughout each stage of the deal lifecycle.
  • Contribute to sector research initiatives by staying abreast of industry trends in renewable energy transition metals and infrastructure investment.
  • Refine your commercial acumen through regular interaction with experienced colleagues across debt products, industry analysis, legal advisory, and credit functions.
  • Participate in business development efforts by preparing insightful presentations and supporting client engagement activities.
  • Foster a positive team environment by sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues in achieving shared goals.

What you bring:

To excel as a Project Finance Associate you will bring proven experience from analytical roles within banking institutions or advisory firms where you have worked on complex debt transactions— involving infrastructure or energy assets. Your technical proficiency allows you to dissect sophisticated financial models while your attention to detail ensures thoroughness in every aspect of credit evaluation. You possess excellent written communication abilities which are vital when preparing detailed documentation such as credit papers or sector research reports; equally important are your verbal skills which help foster understanding among colleagues from various disciplines. A background in law or engineering can provide additional perspective but is not mandatory if you demonstrate strong analytical capabilities coupled with practical knowledge of debt products commonly used in project finance settings. Your interpersonal strengths shine through your ability to collaborate seamlessly with relationship managers as well as risk professionals—ensuring all parties remain aligned throughout each transaction’s lifecycle. Managing competing priorities comes naturally even when deadlines are tight because you approach challenges methodically without sacrificing accuracy or compliance integrity. Above all else your commitment to ethical conduct combined with enthusiasm for learning positions you perfectly within an inclusive team dedicated not just to commercial success but also broader societal impact.

  • Demonstrated experience in an analytical capacity within banking, equity investment or consulting/advisory roles focused on project finance or similarly complex debt transactions.
  • Proven ability to evaluate financial models with a keen eye for detail when assessing risk profiles associated with large-scale infrastructure or renewable energy projects.
  • Experience compiling comprehensive credit papers as well as preparing RFP submissions and sector research materials for business development purposes.
  • A background in law or engineering within the project finance sector is considered advantageous but not essential for success in this role.
  • Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—that enable you to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences including clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with key internal teams such as relationship management, syndications, risk assessment groups as well as external partners involved in multi-faceted transactions.
  • Working knowledge of debt structures and products relevant to project finance deals within power generation, renewables expansion or natural resources sectors.
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively under tight timeframes typical of a deal-driven environment without compromising attention to detail or compliance requirements.
  • Advanced cash flow modelling skills that support robust analysis during transaction evaluation phases are highly desirable.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards while contributing positively to an inclusive team culture that values diversity.
