As a Credit Analyst based in Sydney, you will play an integral role in assessing a wide variety of loan applications from both PAYG employees and self-employed individuals seeking personal or business finance. Your day-to-day activities will involve detailed analysis of applicant data from multiple sales channels—direct customers as well as brokers and planners—ensuring each decision aligns with established policies while maintaining exceptional credit quality. You will engage regularly with internal teams and external partners through proactive communication to clarify application details or request further information as needed. In situations where applications fall outside policy parameters, your ability to offer alternative solutions will be key in supporting customer outcomes. Success in this position requires you to consistently deliver high-quality work within set timeframes while upholding organisational values such as integrity, teamwork, and respect. Your contributions will help foster an inclusive environment where everyone works together towards common goals.

  • Assess and analyse loan applications from PAYG and self-employed applicants for personal, investment, and business purposes across all sales channels.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures when evaluating loans for approval or decline to maintain high credit quality standards.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by proactively communicating with internal stakeholders and external partners such as brokers and financial planners regarding application assessments or additional information requirements.
  • Offer thoughtful solutions when loan applications do not meet policy criteria, always aiming to support customers’ needs within regulatory guidelines.
  • Uphold the organisation’s behaviours by acting with integrity, respect, and accountability in every interaction.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues to share insights, solve problems collectively, and contribute to shared team goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments and decisions while ensuring timely completion of all tasks to the highest standard.
  • Utilise PC literacy skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), Outlook, and NTBS (desirable) to efficiently manage workflow.
  • Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing processes within the credit department.
  • Support the broader objectives of the lending assessment team by contributing positively to a culture of inclusion and mutual support.

What you bring:

To excel as a Credit Analyst in this role, you will bring proven experience from previous positions within credit or lending environments where you have demonstrated your analytical abilities on complex cases involving both employed and self-employed applicants. Your background should include hands-on responsibility for managing loan portfolios—including variations—and exercising delegated lending authority. You are adept at interpreting detailed financial data sets quickly yet thoroughly so that every recommendation is well-founded. Your interpersonal skills enable you to communicate effectively across different levels of management as well as with external partners such as brokers or planners. You are comfortable using technology tools like Microsoft Office Suite daily for reporting or workflow management tasks. Above all else, your approach is grounded in ethical conduct: you treat confidential information sensitively while always striving for fairness in every decision made. Your willingness to learn new systems or processes ensures that you remain adaptable within an ever-evolving industry landscape.

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience working within a credit or lending environment with exposure to analysing self-employed applications as well as managing existing loans such as variations.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex data sets accurately in order to make informed recommendations regarding loan approvals or declines.
  • Proven track record of delivering responsive customer service through clear verbal and written communication tailored for various audiences including management, business partners, brokers, and planners.
  • Experience holding delegated lending authority (minimum $750k) with responsibility for independent decision-making within defined limits.
  • High level of proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), Outlook; familiarity with NTBS is desirable but not essential.
  • Capacity to work autonomously while also thriving as an effective member of a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong organisational skills enabling you to manage competing priorities without compromising on quality or deadlines.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards by acting honestly and respectfully at all times when dealing with sensitive financial information.
