KYC Analyst
* Enjoy flexible working opportunities and access to comprehensive training programmes designed to help you grow your expertise in KYC, AML, and regulatory compliance. * Work on impactful projects that enhance business processes, improve client onboarding experiences, and contribute directly to the organisation’s reputation for operational excellence.
What you'll do:
As a Know Your Customer Analyst based in Sydney, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire KYC lifecycle for new client onboarding within the investment banking division. Your day-to-day activities will involve collecting essential documentation from various sources, conducting thorough reviews against both global standards and local regulations, and ensuring all information is processed accurately. You will serve as a trusted point of contact for both internal stakeholders and external clients—addressing queries promptly while upholding rigorous governance standards. Success in this role requires you to manage multiple priorities simultaneously: from handling escalations with sensitivity to producing detailed reports that inform strategic decisions. You will also play an integral part in driving continuous improvement initiatives across processes and systems—helping shape best practices that benefit both clients and colleagues alike.
- Act as the single point of contact for the business by managing the end-to-end Know Your Customer process for new client adoptions, product or business extensions, and remediation activities within the Global Markets business line.
- Gather and collect all required KYC, compliance, or regulatory documentation through internal systems, public searches, and direct outreach to clients or business partners.
- Perform initial screening of documentation to ensure adherence to global compliance requirements, specific country regulations, and key operating procedures.
- Manage escalations effectively by facing off with key stakeholders and ensuring timely resolution of issues while maintaining clear communication throughout the process.
- Identify risks promptly by escalating concerns appropriately and monitoring issues until they are fully resolved with root cause analysis and implemented solutions.
- Prioritise workflow efficiently by coordinating with Near & Offshore Centres teams to ensure accurate pipeline management and timely account openings.
- Develop and produce critical metrics and reports that provide transparency on team performance while delivering valuable business intelligence insights.
- Monitor exceptional or conditional approvals as well as audit and regulatory items until closure is achieved in accordance with established protocols.
- Implement process changes or improvements related to regulatory updates by formalising process flows, updating key operating procedures, and providing relevant training.
- Support data clean-up initiatives, remediation efforts, re-engineering projects, and assist in implementing new products or policy changes as required.
What you bring:

You will possess excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to communicate clearly with clients at all levels while demonstrating empathy towards their needs. A keen eye for detail is essential when reviewing documentation or compiling reports; equally important is your ability to collaborate effectively across teams so that shared goals are met efficiently. Familiarity with evolving regulatory landscapes will allow you to adapt quickly whenever new requirements arise—ensuring ongoing compliance without disruption. Above all else, your commitment to integrity ensures every action taken supports both organisational objectives and broader industry standards.
- Demonstrated experience in Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), or similar regulatory compliance roles within financial services environments.
- Comprehensive understanding of international regulatory frameworks such as Dodd Frank, EMIR, FATCA, MIFID, along with strong awareness of local Australian requirements.
- Proven track record in client onboarding or remediation processes involving complex entity types including Regulated Entities, Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWF), State-Owned Enterprises (SOE), Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV), Funds, Trusts, or Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs).
- Exceptional client service skills with an ability to build rapport quickly while managing sensitive information discreetly.
- Deep familiarity with reviewing account documentation for accuracy and completeness according to both internal policies and external regulations.
- Strong risk awareness with experience identifying control issues during onboarding processes; able to escalate concerns responsibly when necessary.
