AO8 Manager, Financial Operations and Governance
You will lead the Operational Finance and Governance Unit, responsible for facilitating compliance with legislative, financial, audit and business requirements. The role is also responsible for overseeing the delivery of departmental corporate finance activities including banking services, accounts payable functions, travel and corporate card management. In addition, the role will be required to lead a culture of continuous innovation and improvement in the development and delivery of financial services, systems and processes
Your key duties and responsibilities:
In this role you will:
- Lead multiple teams to deliver corporate financial operational functions, governance and integrated projects to achieve business outcomes.
- Oversee the delivery and reporting of corporate finance activities ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations under which the department operates, Australian Accounting Standards, Public Sector Financial Management legislation and standards.
- Fulfil reporting responsibility to senior management and the Audit and Risk Committee, ensure reports are produced on time with high quality.
- Lead the development, implementation and review of policies, systems and processes which provide for the efficient management of departmental wide finance activities and ensure there is a robust control environment.
- Lead and manage various business change, improvement or innovation projects, including liaison with internal stakeholders, divisions and the finance network on a range of initiatives.
- Manage the development and implementation of a financial business process framework and enable the delivery of supporting business materials to build and sustain a financially astute workforce.
- Manage the delivery of a digital knowledge management portal to improve access to financial information and resources for the department and establish an information framework to ensure the content remains current and relevant to the end user.
- Develop and maintain constructive partnerships and relationships with clients and stakeholders to identify, mitigate and manage financial, legal and compliance risks.
- Provide timely and efficient specialist and authoritative advice on resolving operational and complex financial issues relating to the financial management and governance activities of the department.
- Lead the planning, coordination and timely delivery of financial related information and reporting through partnering with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Foster culture of continuous innovation in the development and review of practices, processes and departmental finance and reporting systems.
- Lead, mentor and manage diverse teams of financial experts in the delivery of Operational Finance services, the provision of relevant and value adding financial resources to the business and the performance of both compliance and governance activities.
