The organisation is dedicated to creating an accessible network for all, with a strong focus on community impact and continuous improvement.
What you'll do:
As a Finance Advisor, you will play an integral role in supporting the financial sustainability of vital public services. Your day-to-day activities will involve providing expert advice on operational finance matters, preparing detailed reports for executive leaders, and ensuring robust compliance with established policies. You will collaborate with various teams to facilitate budget planning processes, deliver accurate month-end reporting, and respond promptly to finance-related queries from across the business. Success in this position requires you to build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels while upholding high standards of governance. Your ability to manage competing priorities with empathy and professionalism will be key as you help drive performance improvements within an inclusive team environment.
- Provide high-quality, timely operational financial management advice to support informed decision-making across the business.
- Assist in coordinating and preparing accurate financial performance analysis and reports for senior leadership within the division.
- Support the delivery of operational financial reporting processes, including end-of-month accruals, general journals, and reconciliations.
- Collaborate closely with the Principal Finance Advisor on budget development, monthly reporting cycles, and other finance-related responsibilities as required.
- Offer guidance and assistance to internal stakeholders on financial processes to ensure compliance with departmental and government-wide policies.
- Act as a key contact point for finance-related enquiries, building trusted relationships with clients across the organisation.
- Participate actively in performance conversations to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
- Contribute to maintaining sound governance practices by ensuring transparency, professionalism, and accountability in all financial activities.
- Manage multiple priorities effectively while delivering high-quality results within agreed timeframes.
- Engage constructively with colleagues to achieve shared objectives and support organisational goals.
What you bring:
To excel as a Finance Advisor in this setting, your background should reflect hands-on experience managing core accounting functions such as month-end close activities and budget oversight. Your technical expertise will be complemented by your ability to communicate complex information clearly while nurturing cooperative relationships across diverse teams. A proactive attitude towards learning new systems or processes will serve you well as you navigate evolving priorities. Your attention to detail ensures accuracy in all aspects of reporting and compliance work. Above all, your empathetic approach fosters trust among colleagues, enabling you to contribute meaningfully within an environment that prizes inclusivity, mutual respect, and shared success.
- Demonstrated experience in completing month-end tasks such as accruals preparation, general journal entries, ledger reconciliations, and expenditure voucher processing.
- Proven skills in financial management including budget preparation, monitoring financial performance, and conducting trend analysis to inform business decisions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to engaging both internal and external clients on complex financial matters.
- Strong communication abilities enabling you to contribute positively towards team objectives while sharing knowledge openly.
- Outstanding time management and organisational capabilities allowing you to adapt flexibly to changing priorities without compromising quality or deadlines.
- A commitment to accountability through transparent work practices, professionalism in execution, and adherence to sound governance principles.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or professional certification in accounting, business or finance is highly desirable for this role.
- Experience working within public sector environments or large organisations would be advantageous but not essential.
- A genuine interest in contributing positively to an inclusive workplace culture that values diversity and supports under-represented groups.
