AO3 Operations Support Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations Support Officer to join a respected government department based in Brisbane CBD. What you'll do:

  • Process heavy vehicle permit applications with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring all documentation is accurate and managed according to departmental standards.
  • Provide timely and considerate responses to enquiries from internal teams, regional offices, local government bodies, national regulators, and law enforcement agencies regarding class permits.
  • Utilise information systems effectively by inputting, updating, querying data, and extracting relevant information necessary for efficient class permit processing.
  • Respond empathetically to queries, compliments, complaints, and appeals from stakeholders while maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Liaise thoughtfully with other departments, interstate and Commonwealth agencies, industry peak bodies, and law enforcement as directed to foster strong interdepartmental relationships.
  • Draft or review departmental correspondence in line with established guidelines to ensure clear communication across all levels of the organisation.
  • Manage your workload efficiently to meet agreed business outcomes, performance indicators, and deadlines without compromising on quality or accuracy.
  • Promote a safe and healthy workplace by adhering strictly to workplace health and safety legislation as well as departmental policies on employee rehabilitation.
  • Uphold the principles outlined in the Code of Conduct for the Queensland Public Service in every aspect of your work to maintain integrity and trust within the team.


What you bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in administrative support roles within large organisations or government settings where attention to detail is paramount.
  • Proven ability to process complex documentation accurately while managing competing priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written communication skills for drafting clear correspondence that adheres to organisational standards.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities enabling you to respond empathetically to enquiries from diverse stakeholders including colleagues, external agencies, and members of the public.
  • Competence in using information management systems for data entry, extraction, analysis, and reporting purposes relevant to operational processes.
  • A commitment to upholding workplace health and safety requirements as well as compliance with relevant legislation and codes of conduct.
  • Experience collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams while maintaining a supportive approach towards colleagues.
  • Capacity for problem-solving when addressing queries or issues raised by stakeholders in relation to permit applications or operational matters.
  • Understanding of public sector values such as integrity, accountability, respect for diversity, and dedication to service delivery.
