What you'll do:
As a Senior Policy Officer, your role will be pivotal in providing strategic and legal policy advice. You will contribute to major legislative projects, analyse information to achieve the department’s strategic objectives in relation to legal policy and legislation. Your ability to coordinate the development, implementation and project management of departmental strategies will be crucial. You will work closely with various teams within the Department to identify issues and develop practical policy solutions.
- Identify, research, develop, and analyse policy issues and develop evidence-based policy solutions.
- Prepare advice on relevant policy, legislation and systemic issues.
- Plan, implement and monitor progress of policy projects within tight timeframes.
- Liaise and consult with various other areas within the Department to identify issues and develop practical policy solutions.
- Represent and negotiate on behalf of the team in internal policy discussions.
- Prepare written materials including briefing notes, memorandums for approval, project plans, correspondence, discussion papers and reports.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Senior Policy Officer position will bring a wealth of knowledge in policy development and legislative reform. Your ability to understand strategic objectives, monitor projects effectively, build positive relationships, adhere to public service values, communicate effectively are all essential for success in this role. A background in law or equivalent legal qualification would be advantageous.
