Work Health and Safety (WHS) Manager

What you'll do:
As a Work Health and Safety (WHS) Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s Work Health and Safety culture. Your role will involve both strategic planning and hands-on work, including coaching, mentoring, monitoring safety performance, and ensuring alignment with evolving legislative obligations. You will also be tasked with fostering strong working relationships across business units to embed shared responsibility for safety.
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will also be responsible for:
- Being the ‘Champion’ for a 'safety-first' culture by partnering with site leaders to drive WHS initiatives
- Acting as a trusted advisor to senior management on WHS risks and opportunities
- Leading the development of a WHS strategy aligned with operational needs
- Building leadership capability through education on WHS obligations and risk awareness
- Maintaining the WHS Management System to ensure legislative compliance
- Monitoring compliance with WHS policies and providing guidance for improvement where needed
- Conducting internal audits, site visits, and reviews to identify risk and drive continual improvement
- Developing, updating, and implementing WHS documentation including risk assessments, procedures, and training materials
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Manager role will bring extensive experience in Work Health and Safety management across multi-site operations. Your proven ability to partner with business leaders to influence safety culture and compliance will be key to your success in this role. Additionally, the successful candidate will bring:
- Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety or related field
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar senior WHS role across multi-site operations
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, standards (e.g., ISO 45001), and practical implementation in dynamic environments
- Proven experience partnering with business leaders to influence safety culture and compliance
- Strong experience conducting audits, investigations, and risk assessments
