Senior Legal Counsel - Regulatory - 12 Month Contract

You will be joining a leading national insurance company as a Senior Legal Counsel focusing on regulatory related matters on a 12 month contract within their established, collaborative and fun legal team based in Sydney and Melbourne.

About the Role

Responsibilities include:

• Provide high-quality, strategic legal advice on complex commercial disputes and regulatory matters involving key regulators (ASIC, APRA, ACCC, SIRA).

• Lead regulatory engagement and support remediation programs across the business.

• Manage external counsel relationships on major disputes and regulatory matters.

• Stay ahead of legislative and regulatory change, advising internal stakeholders on impacts and risks.

• Contribute to legal support for large-scale projects, business initiatives and cross-functional programs.

• Build and maintain strong internal relationships, becoming a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders.

• Contribute to a high-performing legal culture that supports collaboration, continuous improvement, and integrity.

About You

You have:

• 8+ years' post-qualification experience gained in private practice and/or in-house, with expertise in disputes, investigations, and financial services regulation.

• Demonstrated experience advising on matters involving financial services regulators and managing complex litigation.

• Strong commercial judgment, with the ability to balance legal risk and business strategy.

• Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder management, and project leadership skills.

• Previous exposure to the general insurance or broader financial services industry is desirable.

• Admitted as a legal practitioner in Australia.
