An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Analyst to join a highly respected accounting and financial planning firm based in Melbourne. This role is perfect for someone with a strong background in public practice, ideally with 3-5 years of experience, who is looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and collaborative environment. The organisation offers a flat structure, ensuring your voice is heard and your contributions are valued, while providing you with exposure to a wide range of business services including compliance, consulting, business sales, and valuations. With a young and energetic team, constant feedback, and a focus on both technical and soft skills development, this position promises not only professional growth but also personal fulfilment. Enjoy hybrid flexible working arrangements, additional leave for Christmas and your birthday, and the potential to participate in a share ownership scheme after three years. If you are passionate about delivering exceptional client service and eager to be part of an inclusive team that values your input, this could be the perfect role for you.

  • Enjoy hybrid flexible working arrangements that support your work-life balance while allowing you to thrive professionally in a modern office environment located in Melbourne.
  • Benefit from ongoing technical and soft skills training, regular feedback from experienced managers, and the opportunity to progress towards share ownership after three years with the company.
  • Be part of a close-knit team of professionals where your expertise will be recognised and rewarded through competitive salary packages, quarterly bonuses based on business performance, and extra leave entitlements.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Analyst, you will play an integral role within the accounting team by managing client engagements from start to finish. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve preparing financial statements and tax returns using Xero software while acting as the main point of contact for clients. You will have the chance to collaborate with experienced managers in an open environment that encourages knowledge sharing and teamwork. In addition to handling compliance work, you will gain valuable exposure to consulting assignments such as business sales and valuations. Your ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues alike will be key to your success in this role. The organisation places great emphasis on continuous learning; therefore, you will regularly participate in both technical training sessions and soft skills workshops designed to help you grow professionally. By supporting junior staff members when needed and contributing ideas for process improvement during team meetings, you will help maintain a positive workplace culture where everyone feels valued.

  • Manage end-to-end accounting jobs for clients across various industries, ensuring all deliverables are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for client queries, building strong relationships through clear communication and dependable service.
  • Prepare financial statements, tax returns, and other compliance documents using Xero software while maintaining high technical standards.
  • Collaborate closely with managers and colleagues within a flat organisational structure to ensure seamless workflow and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide insightful advice on business services matters such as tax planning, compliance issues, business sales, and valuations.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and contribute ideas for process improvements that enhance client outcomes.
  • Support junior staff by sharing knowledge and offering guidance when required to foster a nurturing team environment.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities including technical training sessions and soft skills workshops provided by the firm.
  • Assist with consulting projects as needed, gaining exposure to broader aspects of business advisory beyond traditional compliance work.

What you bring:

To excel as a Senior Analyst in this organisation, your proven track record within public practice accounting—particularly in business services or tax—is essential. Your journey towards or completion of CA/CPA qualifications highlights your dedication to professional growth. Familiarity with Xero software is crucial as it forms the backbone of daily operations. Your interpersonal strengths will enable you to connect meaningfully with clients while addressing their needs promptly. Balancing multiple priorities without compromising quality is second nature to you thanks to your meticulous approach. Clear communication—both written and verbal—will allow you to thrive within the firm's flat structure where collaboration is key. Taking initiative when faced with challenges demonstrates your dependability; meanwhile, your willingness to share insights ensures that everyone benefits from collective knowledge. Regular participation in training sessions reflects your enthusiasm for continuous improvement—a trait highly valued by this forward-thinking employer.

  • Demonstrated experience (3-5 years) within public practice accounting firms with exposure to business services or tax functions.
  • Progress towards or completion of CA or CPA qualifications showing commitment to ongoing professional development.

What sets this company apart:

This organisation stands out due to its unwavering commitment to employee wellbeing alongside professional excellence. The flat structure means every team member’s perspective is respected regardless of tenure or title—fostering an inclusive atmosphere where collaboration flourishes naturally. With four approachable managers (including two more mature leaders), there is always guidance available without unnecessary hierarchy slowing down decision-making processes. Team size ensures close connections between colleagues across both accounting and financial planning divisions—making it easy for new joiners like yourself to integrate quickly into the group dynamic. Flexible hybrid working options empower you to tailor your schedule around personal commitments while still enjoying access to state-of-the-art office facilities when needed. Additional leave days at Christmas time plus on your birthday reflect genuine care for work-life balance beyond standard entitlements; meanwhile quarterly bonuses tied directly to business performance provide tangible recognition for collective achievements throughout the year. After three years’ service—and subject to eligibility—you may even participate in an attractive share ownership scheme designed specifically so employees can benefit directly from long-term organisational success. Ongoing investment in both technical upskilling (such as advanced use of Xero) alongside soft skill development ensures everyone remains at the forefront of industry best practices whilst growing personally too.
