What you'll do:
As a Senior Financial Analyst based in Sydney, you will become an integral member of a highly skilled finance team dedicated to supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term strategic objectives. Your role will involve close collaboration with senior stakeholders across multiple departments as you provide critical insights that shape key decisions. You will take ownership of developing robust reporting frameworks while managing all aspects of budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling.
By leveraging your advanced analytical abilities, you will deliver comprehensive cashflow analyses, conduct profitability studies, benchmark against competitors, and review new initiatives from both strategic and commercial perspectives. Your ability to translate complex data into clear recommendations will be essential in driving continuous improvement throughout the finance function. In addition to preparing management accounts and regulatory reports, you will partner with teams across the business on projects ranging from M&A integration considerations to R&D grant applications. - Develop, automate, and enhance internal finance reporting processes to drive efficiencies across the business.
- Provide proactive analysis, insights, and data to inform strategic decision-making and support organisational growth.
- Own the end-to-end budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating closely with the Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer on target setting.
- Support the development and monitoring of budgets by analysing variances and delivering clear explanations and actionable insights.
- Manage complex financial models that underpin key business decisions and long-term planning activities.
- Conduct detailed financial modelling and scenario analysis to evaluate performance metrics and identify new growth opportunities.
- Deliver regular cashflow analyses including regulatory reporting requirements to ensure robust financial management.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts, internal reports such as CFO packs, and stakeholder updates tailored for various audiences.
- Perform client profitability analyses to identify business opportunities and improve overall profitability through data-driven recommendations.
- Undertake competitor benchmarking exercises, market research, and thematic reviews to monitor industry trends and inform commercial strategies.
What you'll bring
- Proven experience in Financial Planning & Analysis within financial services
- Full accounting qualification such as CA or CPA (or equivalent) ensures technical rigour in all aspects of your work.
- Advanced Excel skills including modelling and macro development enable you to build sophisticated analytical tools for decision support.
- Strong analytical abilities paired with excellent organisational skills allow you to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience extracting data using SQL or similar tools so you can independently source information required for complex analyses high desired
- Outstanding communication skills enable you to interact effectively with senior internal stakeholders while presenting findings clearly and persuasively.
- A self-motivated approach combined with a genuine desire for continuous learning helps foster positive change within your team.
- Demonstrated commitment to process improvement initiatives enhances efficiency across finance functions.
- Commercial acumen coupled with broad business awareness allows you to identify opportunities for value creation beyond traditional finance boundaries.
- Previous experience in investment banking, stockbroking or related industries as well as familiarity with data analytics tools would be highly regarded.
