Payroll Manager

We are partnering with a market-leading financial services organisation to recruit a highly skilled Payroll Manager for a part-time contract opportunity. This role is critical in ensuring the seamless delivery of payroll services across a workforce of 300+ employees.
As the stand alone payroll manager, you will take full ownership of the end-to-end payroll process, managing everything from data entry and compliance to complex calculations such as terminations, redundancies, and adjustments. This is a hands-on role requiring accuracy, confidentiality, and a deep understanding of payroll legislation and award interpretation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full ownership of the end-to-end payroll process for 300+ employees
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with legislation, awards, and company policies
- Manage complex payroll calculations including terminations, redundancies, back pay, and adjustments
- Process new starters, terminations, leave management, and superannuation contributions
- Handle payroll queries promptly and provide expert advice to employees and managers
- Prepare and lodge statutory reporting (PAYG, superannuation, STP, payroll tax)
- Partner with HR and Finance to ensure data integrity and timely payroll delivery
- Continuous improvement of payroll processes and system utilisation
About You:
- Proven experience as a stand-alone payroll professional, ideally at Payroll Manager level
- Strong background managing end to end payroll in medium to large organisations
- Demonstrated experience with payroll systems such as Workday, PeopleSoft, or SAP SuccessFactors
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, compliance, and reporting requirements
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to meet strict deadlines
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
