What you'll do:
As a Credit Analyst, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of thoroughly evaluating home loan applications while upholding rigorous standards of accuracy and compliance. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with both internal teams and external partners as you guide applications from initial acceptance through to successful settlement. You will play an integral role in ensuring that all stakeholders are kept informed about credit decisions, fostering trust through clear communication. By leveraging your deep understanding of mortgage products and Lenders Mortgage Insurance requirements, you will provide valuable insights on complex cases that may not fit standard criteria. Your ability to support colleagues—whether by answering questions or stepping in during busy periods—will contribute significantly to the overall success of the team. Throughout every interaction, you will champion exceptional customer service by addressing enquiries promptly and guiding applicants through each step of their journey. - Assess credit applications in line with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring all decisions adhere to internal policies and delegated lending authority.
- Process loans efficiently to meet contract deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance throughout each stage of the application process.
- Liaise effectively with staff members, brokers, mortgage managers, originators, agencies, third-party suppliers, and applicants from acceptance through to settlement.
- Communicate credit decisions clearly to all relevant parties, ensuring transparency around requirements and outcomes so that everyone involved understands the rationale behind each decision.
- Support other processors, underwriters, and members of the credit department as needed by sharing knowledge and assisting with complex cases or queries.
- Maintain a strong focus on enhancing customer service skills and knowledge by responding promptly to enquiries and providing guidance throughout the application journey.
- Demonstrate commercial acumen by evaluating situations that fall outside standard policy criteria and making well-considered recommendations to delegated lending authority holders.
- Follow up on loan enquiries diligently, offering assistance at every stage of the process to ensure community partners receive exceptional service.
- Apply detailed understanding of Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI) eligibility criteria when assessing applications involving LMI providers.
- Contribute positively to annual performance goals by consistently meeting targets set out as part of company evaluations.

- Proven experience in credit assessment roles within financial services or non-bank financial institutions for at least three years.
- Current or previous holder of Delegated Lending Authority for mortgage loans demonstrating sound judgement in credit decisions.
- Holder of Certificate IV in Credit Management or Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking reflecting formal training in relevant disciplines.
- Comprehensive understanding of the mortgage market including regulatory frameworks and industry best practices.
- Experience assessing self-employed income streams as well as complex trust structures for loan eligibility purposes.
- Familiarity with construction lending processes including interpretation of Quantity Surveyor (QS) reports is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within teams while also being dependable when working independently without supervision.
- Excellent communication skills enabling you to explain complex credit decisions clearly to both internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Strong customer service orientation focused on building positive relationships with brokers, applicants, community partners, and colleagues alike.
- Attention to detail combined with commercial awareness allowing you to identify risks while recommending practical solutions.
