An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Manager to join a leading alternative asset manager in Sydney, supporting the business during a period of growth and innovation. Must have: RG 97 Experience drafting PDS documents
What you'll do:
As Product Manager based in Sydney, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the organisation’s investment offerings. Your day-to-day activities will involve leading the charge on new product launches from concept through market implementation while also managing enhancements for existing funds. You will work hand-in-hand with various internal departments—investment professionals, legal advisors, compliance officers—as well as external partners like trustees or fund administrators. Your ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously will be crucial as you oversee documentation updates for regulatory compliance and maintain strong governance frameworks. By monitoring performance metrics and gathering client feedback, you will continuously seek ways to optimise products in line with investor expectations. Presenting findings to committees and supporting research house relationships will further cement your influence within the business. Success in this role means being highly organised, detail-oriented, responsive to stakeholder needs, and passionate about delivering best-in-class solutions for clients.
- Lead the implementation and launch of innovative investment products across both listed and unlisted structures by collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Partner with investment, legal, compliance, marketing, and distribution teams to ensure successful platform onboarding and adviser engagement for new offerings.
- Own the complete lifecycle management of existing products by aligning them with investor needs, platform requirements, and evolving regulatory standards.
- Drive the launch of new funds as well as transitions or enhancements such as fee changes or introduction of new share classes.
- Monitor product performance through fund flows analysis, peer benchmarking, and client feedback to identify areas for improvement and optimisation.
- Oversee preparation and updates for key documents including Product Disclosure Statements (PDS), Target Market Determinations (TMD), Information Memoranda, ASX disclosures, and listings in collaboration with legal/compliance teams.
- Ensure all products meet obligations under ASIC’s Design and Distribution Obligations (DDO) as well as RG 97/RG 261 frameworks while maintaining robust governance processes.
- Maintain comprehensive product governance frameworks including committee reporting and compliance oversight responsibilities.
- Act as a subject matter expert across the business by liaising with distribution, operations, legal, marketing teams as well as external service providers such as trustees or responsible entities.
- Present insights to internal product committees while collaborating with research houses and platforms to support product ratings, platform access, and due diligence.
What you bring:
To excel as Product Manager in this environment you will bring significant experience from asset management or wealth platforms where you have successfully overseen complex product lifecycles. Your background should reflect hands-on involvement in launching new investment vehicles while ensuring ongoing alignment with regulatory frameworks. A thorough grasp of industry structures—spanning managed funds through LITs/SMAs/MDAs—will allow you to navigate platform requirements confidently. Your interpersonal skills will shine when collaborating across departments or presenting insights at committee meetings; meanwhile your meticulous approach ensures nothing slips through the cracks during document preparation or governance reviews. Tertiary education underpins your technical knowledge while any additional postgraduate study further enhances your credibility. Above all else your positive attitude fosters trust among colleagues; your ethical approach upholds organisational values; your adaptability allows you to respond constructively amid change; and your commitment ensures every project delivers value for investors.
- Minimum five years’ experience in product management or investment operations within asset management or wealth platforms is essential for success in this role.
- A deep understanding of Australian funds management structures—including managed funds, Listed Investment Trusts (LITs), Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs), Managed Discretionary Accounts (MDAs), and platform distribution—is required.
- Demonstrated track record in launching new investment products from initial concept through market implementation is vital.
- Strategic mindset combined with excellent stakeholder management skills enables effective project delivery across multiple teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail alongside proven ability to manage competing priorities ensures high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are necessary for drafting PDS documents and engaging effectively with clients.
- Tertiary qualifications in business, finance, law or related fields provide a solid foundation for this position.
- Strong knowledge of relevant regulations such as Corporations Act, ASIC guidance (including DDO/RG 97), ASX listing rules or platform onboarding requirements is highly desirable but not mandatory.
- Postgraduate study such as CFA charterholder status or completion of CA/MBA programmes would be advantageous but not essential.
- Personal attributes include being a dependable team player who demonstrates enthusiasm, resilience, ethical behaviour along with an open communication style.
