Senior Leader, Risk Assurance
A leading financial institution is seeking a Senior Leader, Risk Assurance to join its Adelaide-based Risk Division. Key responsibilities:
- Design and embed a robust Line 2 assurance framework that supports effective risk management across all business areas.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of Senior Risk Assurance Specialists, promoting knowledge sharing and capability uplift.
- Deliver an annual risk-based assurance plan covering financial and non-financial risks.
- Coach team members in assurance methodologies, fostering continual improvement.
- Keep stakeholders informed of progress, issue management and other assurance matters.
- Report insights and recommendations to senior management and board committees.
- Work with risk domain owners to address key risks and ensure adequate resourcing.
- Collaborate with Internal Audit and Line 1 Risk & Compliance to align assurance plans.
- Use data analytics and integrated approaches to improve assurance reviews.
- Represent the Line 2 Risk Assurance function in internal and external forums.
What you bring:
- Ten years’ experience in internal audit or risk assurance, with at least five in leadership within financial services or other regulated industries.
- Applied knowledge of assurance practices including risk profiling, control assessment and internal auditing standards.
- Proven ability to achieve high-quality outcomes in assurance or audit functions.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Business or related disciplines, with professional certifications such as CIA, CA, CPA or equivalent.
- Experience working with executive leaders and specialists across business units.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and exceeding compliance requirements.
