A06 Senior Finance Officer
Robert Walters is thrilled to announce an exciting partnership with one of our key Queensland government clients, who are looking for an experienced Senior Finance Officer to join their team and contribute to the strategic and operational financial management of their organisation.
What you'll do:
As a Senior Finance Officer, you will be entrusted with delivering comprehensive finance services that underpin the organisation’s strategic goals. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve managing core financial operations such as reconciliations and expenditure monitoring while also taking ownership of budget preparation and complex reporting tasks. - Implement effective processes to ensure robust budget management that aligns with strategic and operational objectives.
- Provide insightful strategic and operational financial management advice to internal stakeholders across the organisation.
- Liaise with key external agencies such as Queensland Treasury, Queensland Audit Office, and the Department of Justice and Attorney-General to ensure compliance with all finance reporting standards.
- Lead the preparation of annual budgets, complex financial reports, submissions, briefing notes, and correspondence on diverse financial management issues.
- Design, develop, document, maintain, and enhance accounting systems, budgetary frameworks, and associated financial procedures for optimal performance.
- Support the continuous improvement of financial systems by identifying opportunities for process enhancements and implementing best practices.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across Engagement and Corporate Services to deliver integrated business support solutions.
- Contribute to building enduring relationships within the team and with external partners to enable collaborative delivery of customer-focused outcomes.
What you bring:
- Demonstrated experience in operational finance management within a complex organisational environment is highly valued for this position.
- Proven ability to prepare detailed budgets, financial reports, submissions, briefing notes, and correspondence on intricate financial matters is essential.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation, directives, policies, and procedures governing public sector finance is required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to build enduring relationships with both internal teams and external agencies are crucial.
- Capacity to implement effective processes for budget management aligned with strategic objectives is important for success in this role.
- Experience liaising with government bodies such as treasury departments or audit offices is highly desirable for this position.
- Ability to design, document, maintain, and improve accounting systems and associated procedures is expected from candidates applying for this role.
- A commitment to upholding ethical standards while making considered decisions based on broader organisational context is necessary.
- Practical experience in finance management or possession of tertiary qualifications in accounting would be advantageous but not mandatory.
- Experience with Tech 1 would be advantageous but not required.
