Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Advisor in Temporary Traffic Management to join a highly respected public sector team based in Brisbane. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on making a tangible difference to road safety and operational excellence across major construction and maintenance projects. You will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of temporary traffic management, working closely with diverse stakeholders to deliver improvements that have real impact. The organisation offers flexible working opportunities, a supportive leadership environment, and a strong commitment to professional development. If you are passionate about fostering safer worksites, enjoy building relationships, and want to contribute to meaningful change within an inclusive and knowledgeable team, this could be your next career move.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Advisor Temporary Traffic Management, you will be instrumental in managing programs that drive improvements across all aspects of temporary traffic management within construction and maintenance environments. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with both internal teams and external partners as you oversee the delivery of critical safety initiatives. You will be responsible for reviewing project performance data, providing technical guidance on best practices, supporting the development of policies and training resources, and ensuring that all work aligns with current guidelines. By leveraging your expertise in stakeholder engagement and project management, you will help shape strategies that lead to safer worksites while nurturing an inclusive culture focused on continuous learning and shared achievement.

  • Oversee the delivery of the Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) improvements program, ensuring all projects meet annual objectives and contribute to enhanced safety outcomes.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with operations teams, subject matter experts, external partners, and other key stakeholders to foster collaboration and shared success.
  • Manage consultants and contractors engaged in TTM improvement initiatives, ensuring their contributions align with program goals and quality standards.
  • Continuously monitor incident notifications through Integrum, analysing data to identify trends and inform proactive safety measures.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of TTM performance across multiple projects, translating findings into actionable insights that guide strategic decisions.
  • Provide expert input into crash investigations, policy development, procedures, training materials, and contractual arrangements related to TTM.
  • Lead the trialling of new technologies and innovative approaches within TTM, evaluating their effectiveness for broader implementation.
  • Collaborate with internal units and industry partners to propose and implement initiatives aimed at building capability and improving overall TTM performance.
  • Report regularly on the progress of TTM projects, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations for further improvement.

What you bring:

To excel as a Senior Advisor Temporary Traffic Management, you will bring proven experience in overseeing multifaceted programs or projects where stakeholder engagement is paramount. Your interpersonal skills will enable you to connect with colleagues from various backgrounds while guiding them towards common goals. You will have demonstrated resilience when faced with uncertainty or shifting priorities—always keeping customer-focused outcomes at the forefront. Your communication abilities will allow you to tailor messages appropriately for different audiences while ensuring clarity around complex topics such as contractual terms or technical requirements. A background in temporary traffic management—ideally supported by formal qualifications—and familiarity with industry-specific software like RapidPlan will set you apart. Above all else, your commitment to nurturing an inclusive team environment where everyone feels supported will ensure your long-term success in this vital role.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects or programs within an office-based environment, particularly those involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Highly developed skills in stakeholder engagement, enabling you to build consensus among diverse groups while managing expectations effectively.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly, succinctly, and persuasively across different audiences using both written and verbal channels.
  • Experience negotiating complex documents such as contracts, service level agreements, or memorandums of understanding with attention to detail.
  • Resilience when navigating ambiguity or change, maintaining focus on delivering positive outcomes even in challenging circumstances.
  • A track record of fostering shared objectives within teams while promoting an inclusive workplace culture that values collaboration.
  • Ability to conduct detailed reviews of operational performance data and translate findings into practical recommendations for improvement.
  • Solid understanding of temporary traffic management guidelines and specifications relevant to Queensland’s regulatory environment.
