An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Human Resources Officer to join a highly respected public sector organisation based in the heart of Brisbane CBD. This role offers you the chance to make a meaningful impact by providing comprehensive HR generalist support, partnering closely with senior management, and contributing to a workplace culture that values diversity, respect, and professional growth. This is an initial 6 month contract with potential to extend.

What you'll do:

  • Provide comprehensive HR generalist advice to ensure consistent application of policies, procedures, and relevant legislation across the business area while supporting a flexible and collaborative approach to employee management.
  • Partner with senior management teams to address business needs and enhance workforce capabilities throughout the entire employee lifecycle including employment conditions, recruitment and selection, HR policy development, learning and development initiatives, as well as health, safety, and wellbeing programmes.
  • Actively participate in HR projects and initiatives by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes that align with organisational goals.
  • Contribute meaningfully to the development, implementation, and review of human resources policies, procedures, and guidelines ensuring they remain current and effective.
  • Analyse workforce data meticulously and present accurate reports to both internal and external stakeholders for informed decision-making.
  • Efficiently manage the HR mailbox by responding promptly to internal queries while providing reliable HR support across the Commission.
  • Maintain and update the organisation’s HR intranet page using SharePoint so that all information remains relevant, accessible, and up-to-date for staff members.
  • Develop strong relationships with both internal colleagues and external partners to ensure operational requirements are met efficiently and effectively.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated experience providing high-quality HR generalist advice within a public sector environment while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with senior management teams on workforce planning issues including recruitment processes, policy development, learning initiatives, health promotion activities, safety protocols, and overall employee wellbeing.
  • Strong track record of contributing positively to HR projects or initiatives by collaborating constructively with various stakeholders for shared success.
  • Excellent organisational abilities allowing you to manage multiple priorities such as monitoring shared mailboxes or updating digital platforms like SharePoint efficiently.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills which enable you to build dependable relationships internally as well as externally while meeting operational requirements promptly.
