AO5 HR Officer
We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Advisor with public sector experience to join a highly respected government organisation based in the Brisbane CBD. What you'll do:
- Provide expert advice and comprehensive support across a wide range of human resources matters including legislation, procedures, recruitment, selection processes, performance management, learning and development, and workforce planning.
- Build strong relationships with business units to promote contemporary HR practices and strategies while offering guidance on workplace health and safety matters.
- Manage end-to-end recruitment activities from pre-advertising through onboarding, supporting hiring managers with role descriptions and recruitment strategies.
- Review, update, and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current standards and best practice.
- Contribute actively to HR and workplace health and safety projects by conducting research, presenting recommendations, and supporting project delivery.
- Prepare, review, and provide advice on briefing memos, correspondence, and other key documents as required by management or executive leadership.
- Utilise available workforce data to generate insights for managers and senior leaders to inform decision-making processes.
- Maintain positive business partnerships with management and staff at all levels to foster effective collaboration across the organisation.
- Support the administration of payroll functions as well as establishment management and temporary contract extensions.
- Promote education among managers regarding contemporary HR practices while ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
What you bring:
- Demonstrated experience providing high-quality advice across all facets of human resources including recruitment processes, performance management frameworks, learning initiatives, workforce planning strategies, policy development, payroll administration, onboarding procedures, establishment management tasks, temporary contract extensions as well as workplace health and safety matters.
- Proven ability to build enduring relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels by promoting collaborative delivery of customer-focused outcomes within an inclusive environment.
- Strong communication skills enabling you to prepare clear briefing memos, correspondence or reports tailored for various audiences including executive leadership teams.
- Sound knowledge of relevant HR legislation coupled with practical experience implementing policies aligned with governance requirements.
- Experience utilising workforce data analytics tools or resources to provide actionable insights for managers or senior leaders making strategic decisions.
- A commitment to fostering healthy workplaces through openness towards diversity along with demonstrated support for practices enabling full participation by all individuals regardless of background or circumstance.
- Operational experience or knowledge relating specifically to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander cultural practices would be highly regarded; candidates possessing such expertise are encouraged to apply.
- Certification or eligibility for JEMS evaluations is desirable but not mandatory; willingness to undertake further training is valued.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining professionalism under pressure within a fast-evolving public sector context.
