HR Business Analyst
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a HR Business Analyst to join a high-profile project based in Brisbane CBD, focused on transforming the recruitment and selection process within a major government department. This role is central to a strategic initiative aimed at modernising, streamlining, and automating end-to-end recruitment activities, with the goal of reducing administrative workload, enhancing decision-making quality and speed, and delivering a consistent experience for all stakeholders.
What you'll do:
- Lead the design, documentation, and ongoing refinement of business requirements and workflows to drive continuous improvement in recruitment processes.
- Collaborate closely with employment delegates, panel chairs, HR staff, and business support teams to gather detailed insights and translate them into actionable system enhancements.
- Identify opportunities for automation and workflow integration using platforms such as Springboard or PowerApps to streamline approvals, documentation management, and candidate communications.
- Ensure all process improvements are fully aligned with departmental objectives as well as whole-of-government compliance standards and broader workforce strategy initiatives.
- Facilitate workshops and meetings with key stakeholders to map current processes, identify pain points, and co-create solutions that deliver measurable benefits.
- Develop clear documentation including process maps, user stories, functional specifications, and test cases to support successful implementation of new systems or changes.
- Support change management activities by preparing training materials, conducting user training sessions, and providing ongoing guidance during transition periods.
- Monitor the effectiveness of implemented solutions by gathering feedback from users and analysing data to recommend further enhancements where necessary.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant HR technologies, best practices in recruitment automation, and public sector compliance requirements.
- Champion a collaborative approach by fostering open communication between technical teams, HR professionals, and business leaders throughout the project lifecycle.
What you bring:
- Demonstrated experience in business analysis within human resources or related fields—ideally gained in the public sector or large complex organisations.
- Proven capability in designing HR processes from discovery through implementation—including documenting requirements, mapping workflows, and supporting change management activities.
- Hands-on experience implementing automation solutions using platforms such as Springboard or PowerApps (or similar HR technology tools), with an understanding of how these can enhance efficiency.
- Strong understanding of contemporary recruitment practices—including candidate experience principles—and familiarity with compliance requirements relevant to government environments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups including HR professionals, business support teams, technical specialists, and leadership figures.
- Ability to facilitate workshops or meetings that encourage open dialogue while driving towards consensus on process improvements or system changes.
- Well-developed written communication skills for producing clear documentation such as process maps, user stories, functional specifications, training guides or reports.
- Analytical mindset with the capacity to interpret data on process performance or user feedback—translating findings into actionable recommendations for further enhancement.
- Experience supporting change management initiatives by developing training materials or delivering user education sessions during system rollouts or transitions.
