Senior GCP Engineer - 12 month contract

A NSW Government department is seeking a Senior Google Cloud Engineer to design and implement secure, scalable, and cost-effective GCP environments. This is a 12-month contract based in Central Sydney, with a hybrid work model (50% in-office).

What You’ll Do:

• Architect and deploy GCP Landing Zones with robust networking, IAM, and security guardrails.
• Integrate GCP telemetry into SIEM platforms for real-time threat monitoring.
• Build dashboards and alerts for cost tracking, compliance, and security posture.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across DevOps, Security, Architecture, and Finance.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform or Deployment Manager.

What You’ll Bring:

• Proven experience in enterprise-grade GCP environments.
• Deep knowledge of GCP IAM, VPC, billing, and security best practices.
• Strong skills in Infrastructure-as-Code and cloud governance.
• Experience in integrating GCP with SIEM tools and developing FinOps frameworks.

Bonus Skills:

• Google Cloud Professional certifications.
• Familiarity with ISM, ISO 27001, or SOC 2 compliance.
• Experience in federated government or large enterprise environments.
