An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Safety and Wellbeing Support Officer to join a dedicated team in Berrinba for a six-month assignment. This role is designed to provide essential support during a period of organisational realignment, ensuring the continued delivery of high-quality health, safety, and wellbeing services. You will be joining an environment that values collaboration, knowledge sharing, and supportive leadership, where your contributions will directly impact the safety and wellbeing of all staff.

What you'll do:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to Health Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) team members by assisting with various tasks and functions required for daily operations.
  • Assist with incident investigations related to worker incidents and hazards reported through the incident management system (TABS), ensuring thorough documentation and follow-up.
  • Offer user support and troubleshooting for HSW-related systems such as TABS and training platforms, helping users resolve issues efficiently.
  • Facilitate onboarding processes for new users of HSW systems and tools, ensuring they have the resources needed to succeed.
  • Maintain accurate registers of Health and Safety Representatives (HSR) and Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) members for NFAEP, updating records as necessary.
  • Monitor compliance with mandatory HSW training requirements and certifications by tracking completion rates and following up with relevant teams or individuals.
  • Develop positive working relationships with depot managers, HSRs, ECO members, and other stakeholders to promote HSW initiatives throughout the organisation.
  • Coordinate annual evacuation practices for all NFAEP depots by liaising with stakeholders and maintaining detailed records of these activities.
  • Create and collate reports for meetings attended by the HSW team, ensuring information is clear, accurate, and actionable.
  • Organise Health Safety & Wellbeing Committee meetings by coordinating logistics and taking detailed minutes for future reference.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar health safety or wellbeing support role within a large organisation or government setting is highly desirable.
  • Possession of an AQF level 4 or higher qualification in work health and safety or a related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution is highly regarded.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to develop positive working relationships with depot managers, Health Safety Representatives (HSRs), Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) members, external agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational abilities that allow you to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy in record-keeping and reporting.
  • Proficiency in using incident management systems such as TABS as well as other digital platforms related to health safety administration.
  • Ability to coordinate meetings effectively including minute-taking responsibilities that ensure clear communication of outcomes.
  • Experience supporting training programs or workshops focused on health safety or wellbeing topics within an organisational context.
  • Capacity to monitor compliance with mandatory training requirements by tracking progress and following up on outstanding actions as needed.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement demonstrated by identifying opportunities to streamline processes or enhance service delivery within the HSW function.
