AO7 Senior Planning Officer
Robert Walters is thrilled to announce an exciting partnership with a major Queensland government department, presenting a unique opportunity for two dynamic Senior Planning Officers to join their team. This role offers a chance to drive impactful infrastructure planning projects that shape the future, while engaging with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders.
As the Principal Planning Officer, you will oversee and report on infrastructure planning projects to support future needs. You will develop reporting strategies and tools, and offer specialist advice on infrastructure, planning, and asset management activities, systems, policies, projects, reporting, and programs. Additionally, you will support the development and implementation of a co-design strategy in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait stakeholders to ensure successful planning and delivery of infrastructure projects across the state.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in coordinating co-design strategy implementation and engaging stakeholders.
- Leading the analysis and reporting of infrastructure planning programs, with a focus on new proposals.
- Engaging effectively, including culturally appropriate collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities for local input in decision-making.
- Contributing to the establishment of policies and processes for quality framework delivery and implementation, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Developing performance measures to evaluate and report on specific infrastructure planning programs.
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and modifying practices, procedures, technologies, and strategies to meet objectives.
- Analysing and defining best practices for consistent processes in infrastructure and planning-related issues.
- Providing high-level advice and reporting to management and senior executives on a wide range of infrastructure planning projects.
- Managing team correspondence and preparing reports, submissions, briefing notes, and policy documents as needed.
- Working collaboratively as part of a skilled infrastructure planning team.
- Travelling to remote communities, including remote area driving and flights in light aircraft.
Essential requirements for this role include:
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and achieve results within tight deadlines in a changing environment.
- Knowledge of project and program management methodologies, with experience in supporting multidisciplinary teams to achieve strategic initiatives and successful project outcomes in an infrastructure service delivery environment.
- Experience in project and program reporting.
- Skills in problem identification and analysis, exercising initiative and responsibility to achieve solutions.
- Experience in preparing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on program/project budgets, ensuring stakeholders are informed and alerted to potential issues and risks.
- Effective communication skills with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with a sound understanding of both cultures and societies from historical and contemporary perspectives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, and OneNote is highly valued. Experience with specific content management and systems analysis programs is also regarded positively.
