We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Softaware Developer to join respected public sector organisation in Brisbane CBD. Roles & Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software applications that meet organisational requirements and industry standards.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including business analysts, project managers, and other developers to deliver effective technical solutions.
- Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and ensuring adherence to best practices for coding and documentation.
- Contribute to architectural decisions by evaluating new technologies and recommending improvements to existing systems.
- Mentor junior developers by sharing your expertise, offering guidance on complex problems, and fostering an environment of continuous learning.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues efficiently while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders throughout the process.
- Document software designs, processes, and procedures thoroughly to ensure knowledge transfer within the team and compliance with organisational policies.
- Engage in regular meetings to discuss project progress, share updates, and collaboratively address any challenges or changes in requirements.
- Ensure all software developed complies with security protocols and data privacy regulations relevant to public sector operations.
The Ideal Candidate
- Extensive experience developing software using modern programming languages such as Java, C#, Python or similar within enterprise environments.
- Proven track record of designing scalable architectures for web-based or desktop applications that adhere to best practice principles.
- Strong understanding of database management systems including SQL Server or Oracle with the ability to write efficient queries and optimise performance.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams while communicating complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring junior developers or leading small project teams by providing guidance on coding standards and problem-solving techniques.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or SVN along with experience managing code repositories in collaborative settings.
- Solid grasp of secure coding practices and awareness of data privacy regulations relevant to government or large-scale organisations.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach towards identifying root causes of issues and implementing sustainable solutions.
- Commitment to continuous learning demonstrated through participation in training programmes or self-directed study of emerging technologies.
