People and Culture Advisor

Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a People and Culture Advisor to join a highly respected organisation based in Collingwood. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about nurturing positive workplace relationships, supporting employee growth, and contributing to a thriving organisational culture. As an integral member of the People and Culture team, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the employee experience across all stages of the lifecycle, from onboarding through to development and recognition.

What you'll do:

As a People and Culture Advisor, you’ll support both strategic initiatives and daily operations to foster a positive workplace. From employee relations and HR systems to internal communications and cultural events, you'll play a key role in enhancing engagement and organisational culture. Your ability to build trust, handle sensitive matters, and support employees throughout their journey—including return-to-work coordination—will help create an environment where people can thrive.

  • Provide day-to-day support to staff members on all people and culture-related matters including talent acquisition, talent management, capability development, performance management, employee engagement, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
  • Manage HR systems to ensure accurate and compliant maintenance of people records while seeking opportunities for continuous improvement in system usage.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to scope, manage, and deliver key People & Culture projects under the guidance of the People & Culture Lead.
  • Aid in developing internal communications that keep all team members informed, aligned with company values, and empowered to contribute their best.
  • Foster strong relationships across the organisation by acting as a trusted point of contact for staff members and assisting in mediating challenging discussions when needed.
  • Assist in implementing tools and programs focused on employee growth, development, support initiatives for emerging leaders, and overall wellbeing.
  • Support reward, recognition, compliance initiatives ensuring HR practices adhere to relevant regulations while motivating employees through acknowledgment programs.

What you bring:

To succeed as a People and Culture Advisor, you’ll bring hands-on experience in HR or recruitment, a solid understanding of employment law, and strong attention to detail. You're approachable, a clear communicator, and skilled at building rapport across all levels. Confident in drafting policies, managing projects, and juggling competing priorities, you thrive in dynamic environments. While experience in construction is a plus, your willingness to learn and collaborate is what truly sets you apart.

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a human resources or recruitment role demonstrating genuine interest in people development and employee relations.
  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources
  • Experience managing HR administration tasks including maintaining accurate records using HR information systems or similar platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills enabling you to foster positive relationships across diverse teams while handling sensitive conversations with empathy.
  • Proven ability to coordinate projects involving multiple stakeholders while meeting deadlines under guidance from senior colleagues.
  • Experience supporting payroll processes including configuration or reporting within established systems is highly regarded but not essential.
  • Prior exposure to construction industry environments is preferred though not mandatory; willingness to learn sector-specific nuances is important.
  • A collaborative approach combined with adaptability enables you to respond effectively as priorities shift within a dynamic team setting.
