This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the safety and wellbeing of employees, contractors, volunteers, and visitors across all operations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in fostering a culture of safety awareness, providing proactive advice, support, and information in line with the organisation's values and program objectives. This is a full-time position based in the beautiful New England Region of New South Wales.

Our client is seeking a dedicated Work Health and Safety (WHS) Officer to join their team.

What you'll do:

As a WHS Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of health and safety objectives by providing on-the-ground support and advice on work health and safety across all operations. You will engage with staff and contractors, offering high-level technical expertise on matters related to safety. Your role will also involve supporting the development of key safety documents within the organisation's operations. Your commitment to fostering a safe working environment will directly contribute to the wellbeing of all staff.

  • Provide support and advice to employees in accordance with WHS policies and procedures
  • Assist in maintaining the Work Health & Safety Management System
  • Present WHS orientation to all workers, contractors and others as required
  • Assist in the delivery of Safety initiatives, programs & activities
  • Assist in the development & review Risk Assessments & Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
  • Monitor contractor, volunteer & employee safety practices
  • Support incident investigations and make recommendations for corrective and preventative action
  • Support hazard identification and risk management activities


What you bring:

As an experienced WHS Officer, you bring a wealth of knowledge in work health and safety practices. Your strong interpersonal skills enable you to effectively communicate with various stakeholders, while your ability to work under pressure ensures that you can handle challenging situations with ease. Your experience in incident investigation, hazard identification, and risk assessment equips you with the necessary skills to excel in this role. Your commitment to promoting safe working practices aligns perfectly with our client's dedication to creating a safe workplace for all.

  • Certificate IV level qualification in work health and safety or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years experience in a similar role
  • Sound knowledge of WHS legislation & practices
  • High level interpersonal, time management, communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, collaboratively, and meet tight timeframes
  • Experience in incident investigation, hazard identification and the development of risk assessments & SWMS
