Data Architect

Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Architect to join a respected engineering organisation based in the heart of the CBD. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on building robust, scalable data solutions and enjoys collaborating with talented teams to deliver business-aligned outcomes. As a Data Architect, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the company’s data landscape, ensuring that data flows seamlessly and securely across the enterprise.

Be at the forefront of designing and implementing enterprise-scale data solutions that underpin critical business operations, working hands-on with cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.

Enjoy flexible working opportunities in a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth, ongoing training, and knowledge sharing among experienced colleagues.

What you'll do:

As a Data Architect in this forward-thinking engineering environment, you will take ownership of designing innovative enterprise-wide data solutions that support both operational excellence and strategic decision-making. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements before translating them into scalable technical architectures. You will be responsible for developing comprehensive governance frameworks that safeguard information assets while enabling efficient access for authorised users. By orchestrating complex ETL pipelines and integrating diverse applications securely using DevSecOps principles, you will ensure that all systems communicate effectively without compromising on security or performance.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in data architecture or advanced data engineering roles within organisations where responsibility for managing information is distributed across multiple teams or departments.
  • Proven track record applying architectural design patterns for modern reporting systems as well as application integration solutions tailored to complex business environments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of enterprise IT concepts including system administration fundamentals, networking protocols, and industry-standard security best practices relevant to large-scale deployments.
  • Hands-on familiarity with Data Governance principles coupled with practical experience implementing frameworks such as metadata management tools or DMBOK-aligned processes (including lineage tracking).
  • Experience working with iPaaS solutions alongside cloud-based platforms like Azure; exposure to Power BI analytics tools; proficiency in SSIS; deep knowledge of SQL Server; familiarity with Cognos Data Manager or Cognos BI suites; plus an understanding of common enterprise business processes spanning finance, payroll, HR, or asset management functions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to build trust-based relationships across technical teams as well as non-technical stakeholders—ensuring smooth translation of requirements into actionable plans.
  • Strong commitment to collaborative problem-solving approaches that prioritise shared success over individual achievement while fostering an inclusive work culture built on mutual respect.
  • Ability to document complex architectural decisions clearly so others can easily follow established guidelines or contribute new ideas during review sessions.
  • A passion for continuous learning demonstrated through active engagement with emerging trends in technology or participation in relevant training opportunities offered by employers or professional networks.
