At Robert Walters, we have the privilege of helping people and organisations reach their full potential. And we also see it as our duty to help places reach their full potential, too. In fact, to my mind, it’s all interlinked.
Consider Brisbane, for instance. We can only help employers and employees be the best that they can be when their city has sufficient infrastructure, services, amenities, etc. So besides directly collaborating with Brisbane’s employers and professionals to realise their potential, Robert Walters must also contribute to our city’s long-term growth too.
To do this, we partner and collaborate with organisations who are committed to nurturing the profile and prosperity of Brisbane. This is why, once again, we are sponsors of Brisbane Festival.
Signs of (even more) growth and potential
From humble beginnings in 1996, Brisbane Festival has expanded to become a truly international celebration of arts, performance, and storytelling. This year, the diversity of talent on display really mirrors the growing diversity of the city itself. There’s still a local vibe which is uniquely ‘Brisbane’, but the reach is now global.
With the 2032 Olympics announcement still fresh in our minds, this year’s Brisbane Festival feels like another milestone in our city’s journey. It provides a growing platform for Indigenous expression, community involvement and creative collaboration – not to mention an opportunity for businesses like ours to play a part. As well as providing financial backing (including sponsoring an artist and hosting events) we have assisted Brisbane Festival in recruiting talent this year as well.
Each new milestone that Brisbane hits makes Robert Walters’ task easier when we seek to attract inter-state and overseas talent to live and work here. Professionals from outside Queensland want to work in a vibrant, creative place which is affordable, accessible, and friendly. Brisbane Festival demonstrates all these qualities, which makes it a great advert for our city. (As recruiters, we are blessed to be able to attract talent to a city that punches above its weight in terms of startups, sustainability, and innovation too.)
Local initiatives, global commitment
Robert Walters is globally committed to supporting local community initiatives in the many countries where we operate.
Few sectors merit corporate backing more than the arts and creative industries. As widely reported, this sector has disproportionately suffered during the pandemic. Yet the social and economic contribution of this resilient sector remains enormous.
Brisbane Festival is one of a number of arts initiatives that Robert Walters supports – from the UK’s New Artist Award to Adelaide Fringe. It’s proof that we are genuinely invested and committed to nurturing creative talent, while contributing to the growth of local communities.
As Brisbane lights up during this year’s Festival, the potential of our city to surprise and inspire will be clear to see. We can't wait to celebrate that with our clients, colleagues and partners this September.
