This position is perfect for someone who thrives on building strong connections, developing strategic plans, and driving commercial success within a supportive and collaborative environment. You will be at the forefront of expanding metering capabilities into the water industry, working closely with utilities, councils, and commercial clients to deliver solutions.

What you'll do:

  • Develop comprehensive business cases for investment in water metering infrastructure and services by conducting financial modelling and ensuring alignment with organisational strategy.
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new market opportunities within the water sector through partnerships, pilot projects, and innovative commercial models.
  • Engage proactively with customers and vendors to understand their needs, co-design tailored solutions, and foster enduring relationships built on trust and collaboration.
  • Coordinate responses to requests for proposals (RFPs), tenders, and expressions of interest by preparing compelling documentation that highlights value propositions.
  • Create and maintain a strategic roadmap for water metering growth that aligns with broader organisational objectives as well as evolving regulatory trends.
  • Monitor industry developments, competitor activities, and policy changes to ensure strategies remain relevant and competitive within the marketplace.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams across functions to guarantee operational readiness and seamless alignment with commercial goals.
  • Represent the organisation at industry forums, working groups, and customer engagements to build networks and promote thought leadership in water metering innovation.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen with experience developing business cases, assessing market opportunities, and contributing meaningfully to commercial strategy within complex environments.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills enabling you to engage effectively with internal teams, customers, vendors, regulators, and other stakeholders through clear communication and active listening.
  • Solid understanding of the water sector including utilities operations, metering technologies, regulatory frameworks, and emerging trends impacting the industry.
  • Proven track record in project management or proposal development—particularly preparing responses to RFPs or tenders—and delivering successful outcomes under tight deadlines.
  • Advanced analytical abilities allowing you to interpret market data, financial models, operational metrics, and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Familiarity with digital metering platforms or smart infrastructure solutions such as IoT is highly advantageous for this position.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business administration, engineering or a related discipline are required; further certifications relevant to the sector would be beneficial.
