What you'll do:
As a Business Development Sector Specialist based in Perth, you will be instrumental in supporting the firm’s expansion into critical market sectors by leveraging your understanding of industry dynamics. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close collaboration with both internal teams and external stakeholders to identify new business opportunities. You will be expected to monitor market trends diligently, provide insightful reports on client engagement activities, and contribute actively to proposal preparation processes. - Assist in developing and implementing targeted business development strategies for key market sectors including Western Australia’s local and state government, mining and resources, as well as building and real estate.
- Monitor sector-specific initiatives, procurement activities, and legislative developments to identify new opportunities for legal services.
- Collaborate with practice group leaders to align business development efforts with emerging sector trends and client needs.
- Identify key stakeholders such as executives, procurement officers, and advisors within target sectors to foster meaningful engagement.
- Support legal practitioners during client meetings, presentations, pitches, and represent the firm at relevant industry events when required.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of sector landscapes by tracking initiatives, budget cycles, regulatory changes, and providing regular reporting on pipeline development.
- Identify and qualify new opportunities for legal services across various practice areas including infrastructure, planning and environment, employment law, regulatory compliance, and litigation.
- Assist with preparing proposals, tenders, panel submissions while ensuring all materials adhere to brand guidelines.
- Coordinate cross-practice collaboration to deliver integrated solutions tailored to client requirements within each sector.
- Act as a liaison between business development and legal teams to ensure sector insights inform both practice development and client strategy.

- Advanced proficiency using CRM systems alongside Microsoft Office Suite and business development analytics tools for effective reporting and analysis.
- Experience working in or alongside law firms or legal departments is highly desirable for understanding sector-specific nuances.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Public Policy, Marketing or related field is preferable for foundational knowledge relevant to this role.
- Ability to travel within Western Australia for client meetings or industry events as required by project demands.
- Eligibility to work in Australia along with capacity to obtain any necessary security clearances if needed by clients or projects.
