Enjoy flexible work, career development, and staff discounts in a diverse, inclusive environment. Be part of a supportive IT team where your expertise directly strengthens organisational resilience.
What you'll do:
As a Cyber Security Officer based in Sydney, you will be entrusted with shaping the future of digital safety for one of Australia’s most recognisable brands. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you actively involved in designing strategic defences against cyber threats while working hand-in-hand with IT professionals to ensure every system remains resilient. You will take ownership of risk management processes—identifying weaknesses before they become issues—and lead swift responses when incidents occur. By delivering engaging training sessions and collaborating with both internal teams and external partners, you will help embed a culture where everyone understands their part in keeping data secure. Your expertise will also be vital in ensuring regulatory compliance through thorough audits and assessments. This role offers you the chance to make tangible improvements to the organisation’s cybersecurity posture while being fully supported by a collaborative team that values your input.
- Develop, maintain, and continually improve the organisation’s overarching cybersecurity strategy to ensure robust protection against evolving threats.
- Conduct regular risk assessments across all digital assets to identify vulnerabilities and implement effective mitigation strategies that align with business objectives.
- Manage incident response efforts by leading investigations into security breaches, coordinating containment actions, and minimising potential damage to information systems.
- Collaborate closely with IT teams to guarantee secure configuration of all systems, networks, and applications while maintaining vigilant monitoring protocols.
- Oversee daily security operations including threat detection, response activities, and optimal configuration of all security tools to maximise effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and internal policies by conducting audits and regular assessments of security controls.
- Lead engaging cybersecurity awareness training sessions for employees at all levels to foster a culture where security is prioritised across the organisation.
- Work collaboratively with third-party vendors to assess external risks and ensure contractual agreements include appropriate security provisions.
- Promote a security-first mindset throughout the business by advocating best practices and supporting colleagues in understanding their role in protecting sensitive information.
What you bring:
To excel as a Cyber Security Officer within this globally respected fashion brand’s IT division, you will bring not only technical acumen but also exceptional interpersonal skills that enable you to collaborate effectively across departments. Your background should reflect substantial experience implementing advanced security measures within large-scale organisations—ideally spanning both on-premises infrastructure and cloud environments. You will have demonstrated success managing end-to-end incident response processes under pressure while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders at all levels. A deep understanding of regulatory frameworks ensures you can navigate compliance requirements confidently during audits or policy reviews. Your ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible guidance empowers colleagues through impactful training sessions. Above all else, your passion for nurturing safe digital spaces combined with your willingness to share knowledge makes you an invaluable asset who helps foster trust throughout the business.
- Possess recognised certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CompTIA Security+ which demonstrate your commitment to professional excellence in cybersecurity.
- Demonstrate proficiency with SIEM tools like Splunk or IBM QRadar for effective monitoring and analysis of security events across complex environments.
- Show strong knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS solutions, antivirus software, endpoint protection platforms, and their integration into enterprise architectures.
- Be familiar with encryption technologies including PKI as well as secure key management practices essential for protecting sensitive data.
- Have hands-on experience managing vulnerability assessments, performing threat modelling exercises, and orchestrating incident response initiatives.
- Display an advanced understanding of network protocols alongside secure network design principles involving NAC solutions, VPNs (SSL/TLS/IPsec), and Zero Trust frameworks.
- Exhibit expertise in securing cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure—particularly around IAM controls, encryption methods, CASBs (Cloud Access Security Brokers), and related technologies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations (GDPR/PCI-DSS/ISO 27001/NIST) coupled with practical experience using GRC (Governance Risk Compliance) tools for audit readiness.
- Be proficient in scripting languages like Python or PowerShell for automating routine tasks or configuring security settings efficiently across multiple systems.
- Bring proven experience conducting forensic investigations following incidents—collecting evidence methodically while preserving integrity for further analysis.
