Weathering storms, celebrating wins

I started my journey at Robert Walters as an International Candidate Manager, juggling night shifts while still studying Economics at university. It was an amazing opportunity that I loved. Once I graduated, I transitioned into a full-time consulting role, focusing on banking and financial services, at the Sydney office. Despite the challenges of the Global Financial Crisis, the support and teamwork within the company helped me excel.

Thanks to good performance, I gradually moved into management, overseeing different teams before feeling the urge to explore opportunities overseas. Robert Walters facilitated my move to the UK, covering visa expenses and providing relocation assistance, which made settling in easier. Initially planning to stay for a few years, I ended up spending eight years there.

In that time, I progressed well and moved up into senior management before deciding to return to Australia in 2022. In large part, I decided to move because of family circumstances. Robert Walters accommodated me, my wife and my family and helped us relocate back here. Now, I’m working as a Director at Robert Walters Sydney.

I think I've been fortunate work with people that I’ve formed very strong friendships with. I've always been lucky enough to get on extremely well with anyone that I've reported into.  I think everyone is very, very honest, open, and human. On top of that, there’s a huge focus on teamwork which means everyone’s always pulling in the same direction. If one person succeeds, the whole team succeeds. 

It’s been a phenomenal 17 years where the business has taken me places I never thought I’d go and given me career progression to senior management over time. The company has supported me when things have been challenging, but also helped me to celebrate the wins.
