This pivotal position is perfect for someone with a deep understanding of property funds who is ready to take on a hands-on leadership role, guiding and nurturing a talented finance team while driving process improvements across the business. * $230,000 - $250,000 + super * Sydney CBD location * Ideal for a Financial Controller looking to take a step up

What you'll do:

  • Oversee all aspects of financial management including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance to ensure the organisation’s financial health is maintained at the highest standard.
  • Lead the finance team by providing guidance, mentorship, and support to foster professional growth and encourage knowledge sharing among colleagues.
  • Collaborate closely with key business stakeholders across various departments to align financial strategies with organisational objectives and facilitate effective decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating current processes and implementing best practices that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency within the finance function.
  • Manage property funds operations by applying your extensive industry experience to ensure optimal performance and regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports for executive leadership and board members, presenting complex information in a clear and accessible manner to support strategic planning.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls through diligent oversight and regular review of policies and procedures.
  • Support major business projects by providing insightful financial analysis and recommendations that contribute to successful outcomes for both short-term initiatives and long-term goals.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with external partners such as auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies to maintain trust and uphold the organisation’s reputation for integrity.
  • Drive a culture of collaboration within the finance team by encouraging open communication, mutual respect, and shared responsibility for achieving collective success.

What you bring:

  • Extensive experience in senior finance roles within property funds or related sectors is essential for success in this position.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams with a focus on collaboration, mentorship, and professional development.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships across multiple levels of an organisation while maintaining open lines of communication.
  • Strong technical skills in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, compliance management, and process improvement initiatives.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant accounting standards (such as IFRS or AASB), tax regulations, audit requirements, and risk management frameworks.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities enabling you to interpret large volumes of data accurately and provide actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that allow you to build rapport quickly with colleagues from diverse backgrounds as well as external partners such as auditors or regulators.
  • A proactive approach towards identifying opportunities for operational enhancements that benefit both the finance function and wider business objectives.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills necessary for preparing clear reports and delivering presentations at board level meetings.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting or finance (CA/CPA preferred) combined with ongoing commitment to professional learning.
