Financial Accountant | Contract Opportunity with Permanent Potential

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a technically strong Financial Accountant to join a growing and evolving financial services organisation. Working within a high-performing finance team, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining a robust control environment and supporting ongoing business growth initiatives.

This position offers broad exposure across financial accounting, reporting and process improvement activities, making it an excellent opportunity for a first mover from audit or an existing Financial Accountant looking to further develop their career within a dynamic and commercially focused environment.

The organisation continues to invest in new products, systems and technologies, creating an environment where innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial reports and management reporting packs.
  • Perform month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Manage balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
  • Account for operating expenses and support budgeting processes.
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset registers.
  • Support statutory reporting and external audit requirements.
  • Assist with the implementation and enhancement of financial controls and processes.
  • Partner with stakeholders across finance and the broader business to provide financial insights and support.
  • Contribute to system improvements, automation initiatives and reporting enhancements.
  • Support ad hoc projects driven by business growth and transformation activities.

Skills & Experience

  • CA or CPA qualified.
  • Background in external audit, assurance or financial accounting.
  • Experience within financial services, banking, lending, fintech or another regulated industry is a must
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting standards and accounting principles.
  • Proven experience managing month-end reporting and reconciliations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel capability and confidence working with financial systems.
  • Exposure to ERP systems and reporting tools will be advantageous.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Proactive, inquisitive and solutions-focused approach.
