We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee the delivery of accurate, compliant, and timely payroll services for a large workforce across Australia. This is a key leadership role focused on operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement.
About the Role
Reporting into an international payroll leader, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations while ensuring strong governance and a high-quality employee experience.
You will partner closely with HR, Finance, and senior stakeholders to ensure payroll processes are compliant, efficient, and aligned with business requirements. The role also provides the opportunity to drive process improvement and modernisation initiatives within a large and complex organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing national payroll team
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of end-to-end payroll services
- Maintain robust governance frameworks including controls, documentation, and audit readiness
- Oversee compliance with Australian payroll legislation (tax, superannuation, and employment laws)
- Manage payroll approvals and resolve complex queries with a high level of accuracy and integrity
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and business leaders to deliver streamlined and effective outcomes
- Lead year-end processes, audits, and general ledger reconciliations
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance overall payroll service delivery
- Contribute to broader payroll standardisation and best practice initiatives across global operations
About You
- Extensive experience in a Payroll Manager role within a large, complex organisation
- Relevant payroll qualification or certification
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to build and develop engaged teams
- Experience working with large ERP payroll systems (e.g. SAP or similar platforms)
- Advanced Excel and reporting skills
- Proven ability to drive process improvements and efficiencies
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- High attention to detail, strong integrity, and the ability to manage competing priorities
