Senior Project Accountant

What is the Opportunity? Our client is a well-funded and rapidly growing resources organisation entering a significant project delivery phase. With major capital works underway and exciting growth plans ahead, they are seeking an experienced Senior Project Accountant to join their Brisbane team on an initial 6-12 month contract.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide financial leadership and commercial support across major capital projects
- Deliver project performance analysis, including risk identification, cost management, and cash flow reporting
- Prepare project budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Monitor project costs, commitments, margins, and cost-to-complete forecasts
- Finalise month-end project accounting and reporting activities
- Develop and maintain project cost structures aligned to the general ledger and financial reporting framework
- Review supplier and subcontractor invoices to ensure accurate cost allocation
- Assist with progress claims, invoicing, and accounts receivable activities
- Prepare monthly management reporting for executive leadership and key stakeholders
- Track accruals, prepayments, retention's, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support cash flow forecasting and short-term cash management
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and advisor's as required

About you:

• - Proven experience as a Senior Project Accountant, Project Accountant, Management Accountant, or similar
• - Strong project accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting experience
• - Demonstrated experience supporting capital projects, construction, engineering, infrastructure, or resources
• - Well-developed commercial acumen and stakeholder engagement skills
• - Strong understanding of project controls, cost management, and financial governance
• - Advanced Excel skills and experience using ERP/accounting systems such as Xero, Pronto, SAP, or similar
• - CA or CPA qualification (or near completion) highly regarded
