Management and Systems Accountant

An exciting opportunity for a hands-on Management & Systems Accountant with strong mining and Capex experience. You’ll partner across finance, projects and systems teams, leading process improvements, optimising workflows and supporting major capital projects. This Perth-based role offers broad stakeholder exposure, 4 days in the office, 1 day WFH and occasional project travel once or twice per year.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Management & Systems Accountant to join a leading global resources organisation in Perth.

This is a broad, hands-on position sitting at the intersection of management accounting, capital projects and finance systems. The successful candidate will bring strong experience working with Capex within a mining or resources environment, alongside a demonstrated ability to lead process improvements, optimise workflows and partner effectively across finance, projects and systems teams.

This is not a purely reporting-focused accounting role. You’ll be actively involved in major capital projects, working closely with stakeholders to improve the way financial information, systems and processes operate across the business.

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage financial reporting and month-end activities across Perth-managed projects, working closely with Project and Cost Accountants.

• Deliver monthly cost analysis, management reporting and Capex analysis to support effective decision-making.

• Lead forecasting and budgeting activities for capital projects.

• Partner closely with Capital Projects teams, providing commercial finance support and insight across major Capex initiatives.

• Drive continuous improvement across project accounting, financial reporting and broader finance processes.

• Review and improve finance workflows, identifying opportunities for greater efficiency, automation and stronger controls.

• Work closely with ERP and systems teams to support system enhancements, development initiatives and finance transformation projects.

• Support the development and improvement of Capex reporting processes and ERP workflows.

• Manage project creation and cost-code structures within the ERP environment.

• Maintain accurate system reconciliations and ensure strong financial controls and data integrity.

• Partner across Finance, Projects, Group Capex and Systems teams to coordinate deliverables and resolve project-related queries.

• Support internal and external audit requirements relating to capital projects.

• Contribute to broader finance transformation, governance and controls initiatives.

• Undertake ad-hoc financial modelling, analysis and reporting as required.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be a commercially minded and hands-on finance professional who enjoys getting into the detail while also identifying opportunities to improve how things are done.

You will ideally bring:

• Strong Capex and capital project accounting experience within mining or resources.

• Proven management accounting, financial reporting, forecasting and analytical capability.

• Demonstrated experience leading or driving process improvement initiatives within finance or project environments.

• Experience improving financial workflows, processes and systems.

• Strong ERP capability, with Pronto or JDE highly regarded; candidates with relevant SAP experience will also be considered.

• The ability to partner effectively with Project Managers, Cost Accountants, Finance teams and Systems stakeholders.

• Experience working within large, complex or asset-intensive project environments.

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with a collaborative, team-focused approach.

• A high level of attention to detail combined with a continuous improvement mindset.

• A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.

• CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification.
