What you'll do:
As the Unit Pricing and Custody Manager, you will be entrusted with overseeing the end-to-end delivery of fund accounting services for a diverse portfolio of clients. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing complex operational tasks such as reviewing accounts for managed investment funds, guiding system upgrades or implementations, coordinating client onboarding activities, and maintaining robust relationships with both internal colleagues and external partners. You will also play an integral role in developing team members through targeted training sessions while ensuring that all deliverables meet rigorous quality standards. By championing process improvements and fostering a culture of risk awareness throughout the organisation, you will contribute directly to the ongoing success of both your team and the wider business. - Oversee the delivery of unit pricing and custody services for managed investment funds, private equity funds, and listed investment companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance at all times.
- Lead project work such as system implementations or upgrades, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless transitions and minimal disruption to daily operations.
- Review general and special purpose accounts for retail and wholesale managed investment funds, applying your expertise to maintain high standards of quality control.
- Manage client onboarding processes by coordinating with various teams to ensure effective implementation of client change requests and smooth transitions for new clients.
- Build productive relationships with internal teams, external partners, and clients by communicating clearly, sharing knowledge generously, and promoting a culture of cooperation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement by reviewing existing procedures with an eye towards increasing efficiency and reducing risk exposure across all operational activities.
- Provide oversight of deliverables produced by both local staff and offshore teams in India, ensuring consistency in service quality through regular review meetings and feedback sessions.
- Prepare and present training sessions on specific unit pricing topics to upskill team members locally and offshore, supporting their ongoing professional development.
- Conduct external and internal meetings by setting agendas, taking detailed notes, circulating minutes promptly, and following up on action items to drive accountability.
- Promote a risk management culture by researching legislative changes, updating policy documents as needed, liaising with tax parties on distributable income calculations, and implementing strategies that limit organisational risk.

- A minimum of five years’ experience within a fund accounting environment gained at an administrator, custodian or fund manager where you have demonstrated your ability to manage complex portfolios.
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance or Accounting (or similar), equipping you with a solid foundation in financial principles relevant to managed funds.
- Proven experience in staff management including performance management processes such as recruitment, induction programmes, KPI setting, task assignment, motivation strategies, resource planning, career development support.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting standards as well as taxation issues affecting the managed funds industry so you can provide accurate guidance on technical matters.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within teams—both locally based colleagues in Sydney as well as remote/offshore counterparts—while building trust-based relationships across cultures.
- Experience implementing project work either independently or within group settings; able to coordinate conflicting deadlines without compromising quality outcomes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills enabling you to influence stakeholders positively while keeping everyone informed about progress or changes affecting their work areas.
- Commitment to client satisfaction demonstrated through proactive problem-solving approaches that deliver practical solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Competence using Microsoft Office applications coupled with an aptitude for quickly learning new software tools relevant to fund operations environments.
