  • Assess credit applications thoroughly in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and established company credit policies, ensuring all decisions are well-documented and compliant.
  • Process loans efficiently to meet contract deadlines, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail at every stage of the application lifecycle.
  • Liaise professionally with staff members, brokers, mortgage managers, originators, agencies, third-party suppliers, and applicants from initial acceptance through to settlement.
  • Communicate credit decisions clearly to all relevant parties, ensuring transparency around requirements and outcomes so that everyone involved understands the rationale behind each decision.
  • Support colleagues within the Credit department by assisting processors and underwriters as needed, fostering a cooperative team environment.
  • Maintain an unwavering focus on enhancing customer service skills and industry knowledge to deliver exceptional experiences for clients and community partners.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI), including eligibility criteria for key providers, to ensure accurate risk assessment.
  • Apply commercial acumen when assessing credit situations that fall outside standard policy criteria by making informed recommendations to Delegated Lending Authority holders.

  • Consistently embody company values while striving to achieve annual performance goals set out during regular evaluations.

What you bring:

To excel as a Credit Analyst in this organisation, you will bring not only technical proficiency but also interpersonal sensitivity that allows you to collaborate effectively across teams. Your background should include hands-on experience navigating multifaceted credit environments where regulatory compliance is paramount. A deep familiarity with industry best practices—particularly those relating to mortgage products—will empower you to provide valuable insights during complex assessments. Your approachability makes you an accessible resource for less experienced colleagues seeking guidance or clarification. Additionally, your commitment to continuous learning ensures that you remain up-to-date with evolving regulations and emerging trends within the sector. By combining analytical rigour with empathy for customers’ circumstances, you will help uphold high standards of service delivery while supporting organisational growth.

  • Proven experience of at least three years in a credit assessment role within the financial services sector or similar environment is essential for success in this position.
  • Current or previous holder of Delegated Lending Authority (DLA) for mortgage loans demonstrates your capability in making responsible lending decisions.
  • Possession of Certificate IV in Credit Management or Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking is required to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the mortgage market landscape as well as broader financial services industry trends enables you to make informed assessments.
  • Experience working within a Non-Bank Financial Institution (NBFI) is highly desirable due to the unique challenges presented by this sector.
  • Familiarity with Self-Managed Super Fund (SMSF) lending practices adds value when dealing with specialised client needs.
  • Ability to assess self-employed income streams accurately ensures robust evaluation of complex applications.
  • Knowledge of complex trust structures is advantageous for handling intricate lending scenarios involving multiple entities or beneficiaries.
  • Exposure to construction lending processes—including interpreting Quantity Surveyor (QS) reports—will be beneficial for certain types of loan applications.
  • Exceptional communication skills paired with strong attention to detail enable you to explain decisions clearly while maintaining precise documentation.
