This role will be responsible for assessing residential loan applications, making sound credit decisions within delegated authority, and ensuring applications are processed efficiently while maintaining strong service standards.

This role will be responsible for assessing residential loan applications, making sound credit decisions within delegated authority, and ensuring applications are processed efficiently while maintaining strong service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and approve residential mortgage applications in line with credit policies, procedures, and delegated lending authority (DLA)
- Review borrower financial information including PAYG income, self-employed income, company structures, and supporting documentation
- Analyse credit risk and make commercially sound lending decisions
- Manage applications through the credit assessment process, ensuring SLA and turnaround times are achieved
- Identify risks, exceptions, and policy deviations, providing recommendations where required
- Liaise with brokers, mortgage managers, internal stakeholders, and third-party providers throughout the loan lifecycle
- Communicate credit decisions clearly and professionally, ensuring requirements and outcomes are understood
- Ensure all lending decisions align with responsible lending obligations and risk appetite
- Support the wider credit team and contribute to process improvements
Experience & Skills Required
- Previous experience as a Credit Officer, Mortgage Credit Analyst, or similar role within residential lending
- Current or previous experience holding Delegated Lending Authority (DLA)
- Strong residential mortgage assessment experience across standard and more complex applications
- Demonstrated experience assessing PAYG applicants and self-employed borrowers
- Strong understanding of income verification, financial statements, and borrower servicing assessments
- Experience interpreting credit policies and making independent lending decisions
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and quality
Desirable Experience
- Experience within a non-bank lender, mortgage manager, or financial services environment
- Knowledge of Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI) requirements
- Experience assessing complex borrower structures, trusts, or company income
- Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking or Credit Management (desirable)
