What you'll do:

As a Superintendent Representative based in Brisbane within the Infrastructure Planning and Capital Delivery Group, you will play a pivotal role in driving the successful delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve leading contract administration processes from inception through completion—overseeing performance metrics, handling variations or claims with impartiality, negotiating terms where necessary, and ensuring timely close-out procedures. You will work closely with both internal teams (including project managers/directors) and external partners (consultants/service providers/contractors), providing strategic advice that supports commercial objectives. Building trust through effective stakeholder engagement is central to your role; you’ll foster collaboration across disciplines while preparing concise technical reports for various audiences. Your ability to coordinate activities smoothly ensures that projects meet required standards without compromising on quality or compliance. By leveraging your computer proficiency for efficient document management—and demonstrating reliability in meeting targets—you’ll contribute meaningfully to the group’s mission of delivering essential water infrastructure.

• Lead the administration of construction and other contracts supporting natural and built asset projects, overseeing all aspects including performance monitoring, variations, claims management, negotiations, and contract close-out.
• Ensure strong commercial outcomes by managing risk effectively and maintaining contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Foster positive relationships with internal stakeholders such as project directors, managers, program managers, commercial services teams, legal services, PMO, health and safety teams, risk and compliance officers, as well as operational stakeholders.
• Engage proactively with external consultants, professional service providers, contract service providers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Provide strategic commercial advice to project teams while nurturing a collaborative contract management culture that prioritises teamwork and shared success.
• Act impartially as an independent certifier when assessing claims related to extensions of time, variations, damages (liquidated/unliquidated), and disputes; maintain fairness and good faith throughout.
• Prepare clear technical reports for diverse audiences by communicating complex contractual matters succinctly and accurately.
• Support the development of long-term working relationships with people at all levels internally and externally through consultation, negotiation, coordination, and interpersonal engagement.
• Utilise your strong computer skills across office systems and applications to manage documentation efficiently and support project requirements.
• Demonstrate reliability and discipline in achieving performance targets while contributing positively as part of a cohesive team.

With more than ten years’ hands-on experience managing complex contracts from start to finish—and ideally some exposure within the water industry—you offer invaluable insights into sector-specific challenges. Analytical thinking allows you to evaluate claims objectively according to contractual provisions; programming knowledge further enhances your planning capabilities. Familiarity with key legislation ensures compliance throughout each phase. Your communication skills shine when engaging stakeholders or preparing technical reports; computer proficiency streamlines documentation tasks. Reliability is evident in your disciplined approach toward achieving results collaboratively alongside colleagues—while consultation/negotiation abilities help build lasting relationships across internal/external networks.

• Hold a current licence under the Queensland Building Services Authority Act 1991 (Qld) authorising provision of building work services under a building contract; specifically Builder – Project Management Services licence (Contractor).
• Possess relevant tertiary qualifications in construction contract management such as Business, Commerce, Legal Studies, Contract Management or Project Management.
• Demonstrate proven commercial acumen with capability in managing contracts as Principal’s Agent—balancing time, cost, quality and scope effectively.
• Show impartiality when acting as an independent certifier during assessment of claims including extensions of time or damages; maintain fairness throughout dispute resolution processes.
• Bring at least ten years’ equivalent professional experience managing or administering large-value infrastructure contracts across their full lifecycle.
• Exhibit analytical thinking skills with demonstrable ability to objectively assess validity of contractual time/cost claims according to relevant provisions.
• Display prior experience within the water industry (desirable), adding valuable sector-specific insight to your approach.
• Have programming experience relevant to construction projects (desirable), enhancing your ability to plan effectively.
• Understand pertinent legislation such as BIF Act, WH&S regulations and QBCC Act—ensuring compliance at every stage (desirable).
• Show significant ability to communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders; prepare succinct technical reports tailored for different audiences.
• Maintain strong computer skills across office systems/applications for efficient project documentation management.
• Demonstrate reliability through disciplined performance orientation; proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Exhibit experience in consultation/negotiation/coordination—developing long-term relationships at all organisational levels.
