Payroll Officer

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, within a large government organisation to grow and develop your payroll career. You will play a key part in delivering efficient and accurate payroll services, where your skills will directly contribute to the success of our organisation.

As a Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Processing fortnightly payroll in collaboration with the Payroll Coordinator.
  • Maintaining and updating employee records in HRIS and Time & Attendance systems.
  • Providing high-level customer service and payroll advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Assisting with superannuation, taxation reporting, and other payroll-related calculations.
  • Supporting end-of-month and end-of-year processes.
  • Contributing to the development and review of payroll policies and procedures.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • A minimum of 2 year's experience in payroll, administration, or finance roles.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.
  • A high level of customer service focus and the ability to build effective relationships across a geographically spread workforce.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity.

Desirable:

  • Experience with HRIS or Time & Attendance systems (e.g., Aurion, Chris21).
  • Knowledge of awards, EBAs, or payroll legislation.
