Solution Architect
Contract: 2 months Rate: DOE Flex: Hybrid Location: Sunshine Coast
An exciting opportunity awaits for a Solution Architect to join a forward-thinking local government organisation on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about designing and delivering technology solutions that make a real difference to vibrant communities, sustainable environments, and thriving economies. You will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of digital records management by leading the architecture of enterprise-scale systems using Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Purview, and innovative third-party tools.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the design of robust technology solutions and develop solution architectures that align with both current needs and future strategic goals of the organisation.
- Ensure all solutions are compliant with internal guidelines and external standards by defining principles, guidelines, standards, and solution patterns that support the enterprise's long-term architectural vision.
- Develop transition state plans and capability roadmaps that are closely aligned with organisational objectives, creating artefacts to manage portfolios of existing and future solutions for informed business decision-making.
- Provide expert architectural guidance throughout all phases of new system implementations and changes to existing systems, collaborating with project teams, service teams, other technology groups, and third-party vendors.
- Define target-state information architecture for records management using Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Purview, ensuring compliance controls are embedded within all processes.
- Design comprehensive rollout strategies for complex SharePoint environments, considering both single tenant and multi-tenant models to meet diverse organisational requirements.
- Create detailed implementation roadmaps with clear phases, milestones, governance roles, deliverables, acceptance criteria, and target dates to ensure successful project delivery.
- Champion the secure capture and use of public records in accordance with established policies during daily operations.
- Promote a healthy and safe workplace by embracing safety initiatives, participating in training sessions, identifying hazards, reporting incidents promptly, and contributing positively to workplace culture.
- Undertake additional relevant duties as required that fall within the scope of this position.
The Ideal Candidate
- A formal qualification (Degree) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related discipline; or substantial relevant experience in solution architecture within large or diverse organisations or government entities.
- Demonstrated expertise in researching complex problems and applying analytical problem-solving skills to develop effective strategies tailored for varied client bases.
- Proven business acumen including deep understanding of operational strategies coupled with strong written communication skills for preparing reports, presentations, planning documents and policy papers.
- Hands-on experience with business modelling techniques such as Business Capability Modelling, Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN), Business Model Canvas as well as workflow modelling and enterprise application integration methodologies.
- A solid grasp of user experience (UX) principles and their importance in designing accessible technology solutions that meet stakeholder needs.
- Exceptional time management abilities enabling you to handle multiple significant projects simultaneously while balancing competing priorities effectively.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills including relationship building, consultation, negotiation, conflict resolution and assertiveness necessary for navigating changing organisational requirements.
- Experience working within government sectors—particularly local government—or familiarity with frameworks such as QGEA is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of technical architecture best practices including design lifecycle management, infrastructure standards and guideline development is advantageous.
