What you will do:
As Director of Curriculum based in Adelaide, you will shape educational standards across South Australia by leading the development of innovative, reform aligned curricula. Working closely with executive colleagues and stakeholders, you will ensure strong alignment between curriculum design and teaching practice, oversee literacy and numeracy initiatives, and represent the organisation nationally. Through inclusive, values led leadership, you will drive continuous improvement while fostering a safe, equitable, and high performing workplace culture.
- Lead and provide oversight of all curriculum development activities and curriculum-aligned reform programmes across the division, ensuring they are designed to achieve high-quality outcomes for learners.
- Drive literacy and numeracy initiatives by allocating strategic focus and resources to these foundational areas, guaranteeing their effective implementation throughout the department.
- Engage strategically with key internal and external stakeholders to advance curriculum development, fostering strong relationships that support successful programme delivery.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of curriculum policy by maintaining up-to-date understanding of current directions at both state and national levels, ensuring alignment with broader educational goals.
- Apply expertise in curriculum writing, development, and implementation to create innovative solutions that enhance learning experiences for students.
- Establish and implement curriculum-aligned reform strategies that drive continuous improvement in curriculum design and delivery, ultimately enhancing educational outcomes.
- Represent the organisation on national boards and high-level committees, contributing valuable perspectives from South Australia while integrating national insights into local practices.
- Provide high-level leadership within the directorate by delivering appropriate support to ensure a high-performing team with robust workforce planning for ongoing performance and sustainability.
- Actively participate in strategic leadership activities within the division by collaborating with other directors to shape divisional direction and priorities.
What you will bring:
As Director of Curriculum, you will bring executive level experience leading curriculum development within large, complex organisations, translating strategic vision into measurable outcomes through collaboration. You have a deep understanding of educational policy and reform, enabling you to navigate complexity while remaining aligned to organisational objectives. With strong interpersonal skills, you build shared purpose, value diverse perspectives, and foster inclusive, high performing teams. You actively promote safe, compliant workplaces and positive organisational culture, supported by relevant qualifications; ideally at postgraduate level partnered with the ability to build influential internal and national stakeholder networks.
- Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale curriculum development projects within complex organisations at an executive level, translating strategic priorities into executed deliverables.
- Proven ability to identify, analyse, and address complex challenges within the education sector using collaborative approaches informed by systemic analysis of evidence and practice.
- Extensive knowledge of current curriculum policy directions at state and national levels coupled with practical experience managing curriculum at site level.
- Capability in building shared purpose among diverse teams while cultivating a collaborative culture across divisions that supports collective achievement.
- Experience navigating complex challenges while ensuring decisions align with organisational strategy as well as professional legal standards.
- Proven track record in building internal and external strategic relationships that benefit organisational objectives through effective stakeholder engagement.
- Commitment to promoting safe inclusive work environments supported by thorough understanding of Equal Opportunity legislation as well as Work Health & Safety requirements.
- Appropriate tertiary qualification including post-graduate credentials or relevant experience demonstrating advanced expertise in education-related disciplines.
