With a strong focus on collaboration, professional development, and community engagement, this position provides the platform for you to grow your career while making a positive impact on both employees and the wider community. * Be part of a dedicated leadership team that values collaboration, open communication, and shared success across all levels of the business. * Enjoy flexible working opportunities and ongoing training designed to support your professional growth within a well-established manufacturing environment. * Contribute to meaningful employee and community engagement initiatives that foster an inclusive culture and promote long-term retention.

What you'll do:

As Human Resources Manager, you will be entrusted with leading a talented HR team dedicated to delivering exceptional service across all facets of human resources management. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating closely with operational leaders to ensure HR strategies are seamlessly integrated into business plans. You will be instrumental in developing initiatives that not only improve employee retention but also create an environment where everyone feels supported and motivated. By nurturing relationships with both internal colleagues and external partners, you will help build a culture rooted in trust, respect, and shared achievement. Your commitment to upholding high standards in compliance, data accuracy, and process efficiency will underpin your success in this role. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to drive impactful community engagement efforts that reinforce the organisation’s reputation as an employer of choice in Townsville.

  • Maintain optimal staffing levels by overseeing workforce planning activities and supporting recruitment strategies that attract diverse talent.
  • Ensure full compliance with employment legislation, company policies, procedures, and guidelines while promoting best practice standards throughout the organisation.
  • Review existing HR processes regularly to identify opportunities for improvement in staff retention and implement effective strategies to reduce turnover.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels as well as external partners to facilitate open communication and mutual understanding.
  • Uphold data integrity by accurately updating and maintaining all HR records in accordance with privacy requirements and organisational standards.
  • Monitor trends in attendance and absenteeism, providing insights and recommendations to address underlying issues proactively.
  • Design and deliver employee engagement initiatives that enhance workplace satisfaction, wellbeing, and productivity across the plant.
  • Champion community engagement projects that strengthen connections between the business and local organisations or groups.
  • Support annual performance cycles by guiding managers through review processes and encouraging recognition of ideal behaviours.

What you bring:

To excel as Human Resources Manager in this setting, you will bring substantial experience from previous roles where you have successfully led HR teams within complex environments—ideally manufacturing or processing sectors. Your academic background will provide a solid foundation for navigating employment law intricacies while your hands-on expertise ensures practical solutions are implemented smoothly. You possess outstanding communication skills that enable you to connect authentically with colleagues at every level; your approachable manner encourages openness and trust. Above all else, your passion for creating inclusive workplaces shines through everything you do—from championing employee wellbeing initiatives to supporting professional development opportunities for others. Your ability to see projects through from conception to completion demonstrates reliability that inspires confidence among peers.

  • Demonstrated experience in a senior human resources leadership role within a manufacturing or processing environment is highly regarded for this position.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a related discipline are essential for success in this role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employment legislation including practical application of the Fair Work Act and Modern Awards is required.
  • Proven ability to manage end-to-end recruitment processes effectively while supporting diversity and inclusion goals within teams.
  • Exceptional administrative skills with meticulous attention to detail when handling sensitive information or preparing reports are necessary.
  • Highly developed interpersonal abilities enabling you to communicate clearly with individuals at all organisational levels are vital for building trust.
  • Excellent written communication skills coupled with strong report writing capabilities are important for documenting investigations or policy updates.
  • Outstanding time management skills allowing you to prioritise tasks efficiently while meeting multiple deadlines are crucial for this fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using HR management systems such as Success Factors would be advantageous but not mandatory for applicants.
  • A collaborative approach combined with genuine empathy towards others ensures you can nurture positive working relationships throughout the business.
